Damn, wish I could go.
I used to work there a few years back, then moved to CNJ. I miss those tracks already! haha. |

Are you guys running with instructors for new drivers? I see Lighting mentioned so I assume its the smaller track you will be on. Not too many sections to remember for the 1st timer which is nice. |
I haven't been able to locate the website with the event information. I have been doing HPDE events for nearly 11 years, so I don't know what the event organizers will require as far as a track resume or grouping for instruction. Drove the lightning course for a TT event with EMRA. It's an interesting layout. Not difficult as such, but there are one or two segments that requirea good bit of precision in terms of entry and exit placement and judicious throttle control. The one long straight is just a bit too long for my 4th gear and 3.42 rear ratio. I run out of revs too late to upshift, too early for the braking point. There's some decent in-car video of the track on YouTube.

I was curious if they were looking to recruit. I've instructed there once before with the NY Viper club; kinda small for big horse power as you mentioned but still a fun track. For that matter most any track experience is always fun!
I haven't searched around this forum much, but I'm glad to see it on NJFBOA. I raced with EMRA a few times and currently PCA and NASA. Spec and GT class depending on what car I had at the time. Took last year off and I'm itching to get back. |
Know what you mean, I only got out for one event last season. Health issues had me down for much of the driving season and little time was left after getting the car prepped for the track (my car is still street legal and needs to be set-up for each event). Looking foward to cleaning off the cobwebs.
Not sure how the event organizers will handle the instructional situation, but I'd be somewhat surprised if they didn't have their instructor roster finalized well in advance of the event. However, I'm not familiar with the group so I am only going on what I've experienced elsewhere. Guess you could try to contact them and ask them about instructing. Looking forward to seeing you at NJMP. My car is the Black '02 Z-28 pictured in my signature (no, but I wish the Trans -AM Camaro in the pic was my ride). |

Scott- Will you be there?
|
Friday. I have too much baseball with my kids this weekend to go either day.
|
Ah ok. I won't be there Friday. Guess it's just me and Jensend.
Does anyone know if we are allowed to have passengers in the car while we lap the track? My buddy is coming to spectate, and I'd love to have him join for a few runs. |
Driving down 287 to turnpike. Hope catch the 3 pm meet. Taking the 87 BMW this time.

And remember your S rated 2000+ helmet. |
I think mine is an M2000. I guess its time to pick up a new helmet anyways.
|
Yeah, it seems NJ is outlawing M rated ones in auto racing. Or something like that
