You should check with them and find out exactly what the coverage on it is. From what I remember setting up my policy a few years ago, the liability coverage you choose encompasses all covered vehicles, but you can choose comp & collision for each individual vehicle. Since the money is coming out of your pocket, you should make sure that your car is covered by liability only.

Yea, just checked, I have just the bare minimum on my car, liability.

And while asking, found out I may be on my own soon, damn it. :|

We pay $230/mo for ours
2006 Dodge grand caravan-full coverage
2000 Grand prix gtp-just liability
1999 Buick century-just liability

Thats with 300/200 personal injury/property damage on all 3

ws6 jim 01-11-2011 09:27 PM

I pay 1800 a year for the Camaro full coverage 500 deductible and liability for the 91 with 100/300 plus extras. I have travelers and I saved over 1800 a year by switching other policies around to put under the same portfolio.

When I switched I was told Travelers bought several companies and are writing aggresively to attract new customers. It works for me $$$

r0nin89 01-11-2011 09:28 PM

Me and my girlfriend pay $185 a month.

Thats for liability on all vehicles

2002 Corolla DD duty 1
1999 Dodge Stratus DD duty 2
1987 Chevy K10 Pleasure vehicle

When I was 17 and was on my parents it cost me $160 a month to be added to their insurance. $80 of it was the liability and the other $80 was for an umbrella policy my dad had for all our cars and the house so we were covered if we got sued really bad.

wrong generation 01-11-2011 09:36 PM

don't use liberty mutual they suck. when i was 17 i paid $3,000 a year for basicly liablity on my own policy thru them. to drive an 89 volvo station wagon and that was with no points and a spotless record.

now many years later with a sports car im paying alot less then that although im paying more then i think i should be and sense my policy expires next month im currently shopping around again.

coolmanvette75 01-11-2011 09:38 PM

yea im not a fan of liberty. my dad has been a customer with them since 1969 when he got his license and bought his chevelle and they wont cut him a break on price

yea we are definitley shopping around now. im not trying to pay more a year for insurance than the actual purchase price of the car.

wrong generation 01-11-2011 10:06 PM

no matter what your pretty much gona end up paying more a year for insurance then you paid for the car at your age unless you paid a hell of alot for the car lol.

greenformula92 01-11-2011 10:19 PM

2400 a year....and thats the cheapest i've been able to get

ar0ck 01-11-2011 11:35 PM

I pay $2,000 a year, for 2 cars & 2 motorcycles
- 1995 Z28 Camaro = Liability only and is listed as a pleasure vehicle driven under 5000 miles a year, $400/Year
- 2001 S10 4cyl = Liability only $500/Year
- 2008 Yamaha R6S = full coverage, $1,000/year
- 2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF = Liability only $100/Year.

The Camaro is currently on a 6 month "Withdrawn from Use" status so I only pay $90/year. This is with State Farm, 25urs old and being in the military!

Yeah, I agree. My family always used Liberty Mutual also, so when I was 17 and drove an old beat up Toyota Corolla, I was on the parents' policy so it wasn't too bad. When I got my first Camaro a year later ('83 with the anemic 2.8 V6), I went on my own policy for about $1700 a year (This was in the early 90s). I stayed with them until 2002, when I had my first at-fault accident (Literally dented their plastic rear bumper cover). I reported it to Liberty Mutual (As required by law) and informed them that we were settling it on our own. Unbeknownst to me, the driver of the other car made a claim. Now, that doesn't bother me so much, even though the guy told me he would get an estimate and call me. What bothered me was that Liberty Mutual never notified me of this and when I got my new policy months later, the rates had gone up over $1k. When I called them, they informed me that a claim was made and they didn't have to notify me of that. Whether that's right or not, I think it's BS and poor customer service. Despite growing a little older, my cars getting older and moving to a less populated part of the state, my rates continued to go up and the customer service continued to decline.

I switched to Geico. Full coverage on both of my running vehicles was about $2k a year (At least $1k less than Liberty Mutual), and has been going down a little at a time every year (Even after adding a third vehicle in 2008). Of course, I haven't had any accidents since then (Knock on wood) and I'm technically a government employee, so I'm sure that helps. My point is, I would look elsewhere, especially if they won't take into consideration that their customer has been with them for over forty years and is a safe (Presumably) driver.

band77one 01-12-2011 08:20 AM

im with allstate, before taking my camaro off the policy i was at 192 a month, with my 89 silverado, and my 88 iroc which had custom car coverage for about $10,000 of coverage. now with just my truck im not even at $100 a month.

Yup.

WiMiMc 01-12-2011 01:54 PM

i have high point and i'm on my parents plan, i'll have to ask how much but i think its ~1600-~2000.

Frosty 01-12-2011 01:56 PM

That's one thing I love about PA. 122/month for liability on the Tbird, GTA and $15K of renter's insurance. Even liability on the daily driver and full coverage on either the Z28 or the C5 and same renter's insurance was still only $15x/month.

State Farm and PA FTW :D

Stevoone 01-12-2011 02:06 PM

I pay about $1,700 a year with full coverage on my wifes 2004 Jeep Liberty and liability only on my 96 Ram and my 87 T/A. I think I have 100k/300k and a $500 deductible on the Jeep. Progressive was the least expensive I could find, I've gotten quotes a few times and haven't found anything cheaper yet.

When I first started driving I was paying $2,800 a year for liability on an 87 Mazda pickup.

The Fixer 01-12-2011 02:52 PM

We have NJ Manufacturers as well. We have full coverage on both vehicles ('01 Cherokee and '03 Liberty Limited) and pay about $1900/yr for 100/300K coverage. The Monte costs me about $400/yr through Hagerty.

HeadlessNorseman 01-12-2011 03:59 PM

when i was 19, financing a car, it was more than the payments, around 3500 a year i think. I had an awesome job then so it didnt matter to me. Full coverage is fairly pointless on an older car, like bonzo stated deductibles are gonna be almost the value of the car

Now at 24 i pay about 600 a month for crx+924, bare minimum iability, its around 500 for just one. When i turned 21 it went down a lot, then i got a lot of tickets in a row and it went right back up. Stupid stuff does seem to follow you longer than it should :(

coolmanvette75 01-12-2011 04:39 PM

yea i have a good job and id be able to pay 3300 a year, but id rather pay less so the extra money can go towards go-fast goodies.
