I think some of you guys are missing the point of the topic, what's embarrassing about wanting a ZO6 or a new Mustang? I think the point was to name some cars your friends would laugh at you for(like a Geo Metro convertible or something lol)

lol reading is fundamental. lol

I saw a Geo Metro convertible yesterday. I didn't even know they made them.

Frosty 06-20-2011 08:47 AM

Yeah, LSI trim, I think it came with the 3 cylinder too. Al would probably know.

Yeah, that's what I figured.

In my case? BMW Isetta.

Thank you frosty. Yes cars that you think it would make us say, "Why the hell would you want one of those?" and that you actually want.

And Slow, I used to work with a guy that had a McLaren Mustang, I always thought it was neat.

It is a nice car but after owning 2 mustangs in my life and me vowing to never own another I think people would ask why the hell would I want another one of those?

I dont know most of the "odd" cars i like i'm not embarrassed about:

fiero
sky/solstice
s10/sonoma

the only one i'd say i'd be embarrassed about is the Rx-8

Chevy Cavalier with a Quad 4 motor
Old school Turbo Dodge Caravans
Dodge Omni
VW Jetta
Saturn Sky
Mclaren Mustang

My best friend had an ACS McLaren Mustang, convertible, 5spd, black 1 of 40made with his option package and color.....Those cars were nothing to be embarrassed about....however the Mclaren Capris were another story....with those hideous color combinations and extra 300lbs of glass in the rear hatch.

So guess put me down for an ACS Capri

Frosty 06-20-2011 12:19 PM

I guess my odd car would be a Beretta Z26, quad 4/5-speed. Obviously not a quality car but a fun little car to daily drive.

After seeing one on PHR cover a few years ago I want to build a Mustang II for road course use.
There's one sitting in a Gulf station on Route 23 up by Willowcrook Mall in Wayne. A little far from Hamilton... I share this one with you; my grandfather worked for Ford, so all of my uncles drove them. I remember one of them having a metallic green Mustang II. I wouldn't mind having one all black and slammed to the ground with an updated drivetrain.

Spotted a Javelin the other night at The Chatterbox that I wouldn't mind owning, either.

oh that just reminded me add geo metro convertible to my list also

WiMiMc 06-20-2011 02:28 PM

i would absolutely love to do an LSJ swap on a lumina..

even moreso, make it rear wheel drive and swap an ecotec motor in there, then put a rear mount turbo.

It would be embarrassing to me because of how much I hate on the Mustangs and from the past Mustangs I owned..

Tru2Chevy 06-20-2011 07:53 PM

First gen Lumina Euro 3.4 / 5 spd
Dodge Omni (with anything but the 1.8L. Would be happy with the 2.2 or the GLH / GLHS)

- Justin

r0nin89 06-20-2011 07:58 PM

Chevy Nomad, mostly cause I hate most other wagons.

Notchback Fox Body Mustang. When I was like 14 my cousin got one as his first car. I had a very long moment where I was almost a ford guy. I really wanted to shoehorn a 460 in one. Then I bought my 3rd gen...

I almost bought a Z34 once, but I prefer the look of the 4 doors, hence the Euro 3.4. Slap a '90 Euro mesh grill on it and TGP crosslaces and win.

What is a closet car to one, is a really cool car to another.
How many here would want to own an Dodge Omni GLH/GLHS?
Isuzu Stylis Turbo?
Alfa Romeo Spyder?
Fiat 500?

I loved my '04 Malibu Maxx and I am not embarrassed to say that. I would be more embarrassed to say I want to own a Miata over a Sky?

WiMiMc 06-20-2011 08:35 PM

the lumina monte carlos vaguely resemble a GTO.. i see it in the side windows

berettas are quality cars. quad 4's are pieces of junk :D 660 ftw

Frosty 06-21-2011 09:20 AM

Did the 2.8/3.1 come with the 5-speed? For some reason I'm thinking only the quad 4's came with the 5-speed...but then again I'm not up on Beretta knowledge lol

88WS-6 06-21-2011 09:36 AM

94-97 3000 gt vr-4

89-92 300 zx 2+2

Anti_Rice_Guy 06-21-2011 12:13 PM

There's an old Beetle for sale in the Auto Shopper...4 spd manual, green/white, 200 hp built motor, race suspension. I want it badly to commute in, would be so much fun in traffic while getting great mielage.

Turbo geo metro convertible for same reason.

Manx buggy.

I'm sure I could think of others if I tried.

all motors were available with a 5 speed up until 93. after that the 3x00's didnt come with a 5 speed but you could have one special order at a dealer, there are a few around but arent ''documented stock''.

in all honesty though a 92 beretta gt with the 3.1 and 3t60 is about as bulletproof as you can get for a gm fwd car. except for the interiors. those fall apart by looking at em

oh and yes, i did the 96/97 front end conversion on my old supercoupe. the hood had a dent in it from some ******* before my trying to shut it with the prop up...long story short i found a great deal in a junkyard and had some fun
