The Holley part number confirms it's a model 4160 600cfm carb, vaccum secondaries with a metering plate. The bottom number is the build date...

Feb 1970? Damn....

How many bolts are holding the intake down?

I want to say 4 on each side. The doubles in the middle and one for the corners.

88WS-6 02-16-2012 09:22 AM

I also found the difference in the T5 RPOs:

MK6 - BW 5 spd, 2.95 1st, .74 OD
M39 - BW 5 spd, 2.95 1st, .63 OD

So I got the CAFE trans, even with the G92 package. Not sure if it's a world class though.

afaik, 1988 started world class T5

and those exposed intake manifold threads are due to a pre-87 manifold on centerbolt heads

WayFast84 02-17-2012 09:11 PM

I still have that mechanical fuel pump...

I was trying to figure that myself.

Best I can tell it's the right intake but with the washers the aluminum cracked. On Vortec pattern heads there's no holes there IIRC.

V 02-17-2012 10:26 PM

Matt, you can just re-drill the angle of the inside holes, and you can make the manifold fit. Not the best way, but possible.

88WS-6 02-18-2012 02:22 PM

Ok thanks. And WBT, there are 6 bolts per side

88WS-6 02-21-2012 06:03 AM

So my plans for this car are:

-Sort out fuel delivery
-Swap springs with my GTA (Eibach Pro-kit)
-Fix e-brake cables
-Install Hooker shorty headers (2055s) with new wideband O2 kit
-Tune carb using O2 kit
-Race it

And eventually I'd like to put on the biggest set of C5 Z06 wheels and tires I can fit (black with the chrome lip).

I think these are the C5 deep dish, but it would look similar:

Oh here's one:

I'm not a fan of the rivets though...

WayFast84 02-21-2012 08:05 AM

you can get them without rivets...

Anti_Rice_Guy 02-21-2012 08:13 AM

Deep dish would like 10x better

get the c5 deep dish but without rivets...cuz im getting the matte black ones with rivets for my 87 lol. yahtzee (thirdgen.org) has a sweet car. but quite honestly im really liking yours. i want to put the highrise on mine now

88WS-6 02-21-2012 09:51 AM

Well the deep dish is probably cheaper too... hmmm

One reason that I really like the C5 Z06 wheels is that they are very light. I would look into getting the same size for all four corners (not staggered like a stock C5 vette) and as wide as I can. Hopefully 295s in the back.

88WS-6 02-21-2012 09:56 AM

I was looking at these, 17s all the way around is big enough for me:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-Rims-Fit-...item5ae4cdc651

What's the widest tire you can fit on a 9.5 inch wheel?

townsend 02-21-2012 11:43 AM

i like them too. plus a good price to boot. im just partial to the c5 deeps' cuz of yahtzee's car, i love the look. itd be nice and probably more cost effective to run the same size all the way around so you can rotate the back to front when you beat the fronts up at the track

That is one benefit. I've also talked to people who have autocrossed third gens and they have said that staggered wheels really affect turn-in radius and even predictability in most cases.

WayFast84 02-21-2012 02:05 PM

Everytime I come in this thread it makes me want a thirdgen camaro :(. You might have problems with 17's rubbing front renders since its so low, my 84 would rub stock height with gta 16's.

maroman88 02-21-2012 02:12 PM

im lowered a good amount and my 17's dont rub up front

I plan to have my Eibach pro-kit on before the rims. My GTA with Koni yellows and Eibach pro-kit:

I'm thinking 17 inch vette wheels, 9.5 inches wide with 275/40/R17s all the way around. It will require 2 in adapters on each wheel too.

maroman88 02-21-2012 02:17 PM

2 inch? 1.25 up front 1 in the rear
