Brian, since the 2012 model run will only be so long, there will be a limited number for 2012, but only because the model year. They will make as many as they can sell, there will be no limited number per year.

My question is how loud are these camaros from the exterior with the butterflys open? |
Loud. Even sitting there, the car is noticiablly louder than the SS cars. The exhaust, while routed almost the same, doesn't have the center resonators nor the big utter mufflers. They said, if you open the butterfly valve, you could roll a golf ball all the way to the cat without hitting anything.

they can't be quieter than the other production cars. They are nearly silent!

Top Gear boys just wrecked one:facepalm:

Let me preface this by saying I'm being totally serious and not just hating.
What components make it weigh so much? 4100 lbs in an aluminum engined car? |

this car appears to add ~200 lbs to that of a similar S. bigger brakes and I'm guessing the mag shock stuff adds weight. and the lsa motor is heavier too. |

Granted it was on a transfer station scale, but with me in it, the vert weighed 3800 even. With 1/8 tank of gas. Everything to possibly make it heavier except 17" wheels. and obviously an iron block.

Seriously though, I get that cool stuff weighs more like rotors, calipers, and big wheels. But that's really beefy for a car built for handling. |
Well you have to take out ~150 for me. 3650 with minimal gas. And again, it's a transfer station scale so it may not be perfectly calibrated for lower weights.
I know transampete had his car's race weight at 4200 but that was an ls1 ws6 6spd with aftermarket rear, cage, nitrous, heavy wheels. |
Yikes, alright...well
Camaro SS is just under 3900lbs, so it's an addition of 200lbs. MRC shocks weight more, larger brakes and calipers, larger 14 bolt iron rear end, thicker roll bars, larger and HD CV axles, supercharger with cooling systems, larger radiator, and overall revised and strenghtened chassis parts. That adds up to 200lbs. Arron Gold, who consults for Top Gear USA did wreck the same car I went off the track with. Made me feel a little bit better about going off. |
