gas mileage is good if you drive it good. i like to hear my car so i give it more and slowly drag out some gears. my average is 15.6 whith getting on it all the time.

when i took it to the shore i was doing 80 in 6th with 3:73 and i got 34.2 the whole way down.

Are these based on the onboard computer or real math?

BonzoHansen 04-16-2012 12:16 PM

i was just reading about the next mustang. good thing you got it now. sounds like the next one will be mustang only in name.

Yeah so that means nothing. I'm looking for actual numbers.

now there is winning math lol.

I have tracked every tank of gas on my cruze. It is always high, without fail, roughly 3/4 a MPG. so it is good for a general idea but not exact.

Anti_Rice_Guy 04-16-2012 01:40 PM

We track every tank in all of our vehicles and my Explorer has been everywhere from spot on to 3 mpg off. Which is horrendous in a vehicle that averages 17.4 over the past 5years.

guestimating math FTW:lol:

BrandonDrecksage 04-16-2012 05:02 PM

first tank was 23mpg...that did involve a decent amount of spirited driving. tranny issues were solved

I am all about what a car can do in a straight line too but GM did say "they are focusing more on the ZL1s road course ability over its drag prowess" (quote from HOTROD Magazine) I like the newer Mustangs better than previous years but if I was in the market for a v8 rwd car, I wouldn't even hesitate to get a Camaro over a Mustang. That being said, good luck to everyone with their new Mustangs!

New name for this site?! NJFB5.0A
If they are focusing on handling I have to say it doesn't live up to the hype IMO.

Lol after working at Island Beach state park today I think its a Jersey thing. Every 3rd vehicle was a Jeep, 75% being Unlimited's. Now I want one.

Yawn, Really? If you were an import guy right about now would be the time you started talking about hp/Liter and such. The Mustang out sold the F-Body throughout the 93-02 4th Gen, yet IMO the 4th Gen was by far the better car. The Camry out sells the the Camaro too, doesn't mean I want it.

Typical Ford, meaning it sucks. real world about 18-19mpg city/highway.
If I drive easy I can do 21-22mpg. I check versus the Comp. to be honest the comp is pretty accurate.

Yeah hear it is Euro inspired:barf: with IRS. Hopefully by that time the Camaro will be something I want to buy.

It's by no means the fastest thing ever to go around a corner, but it beat Ford's 2 seater, track ready mustang by over 2.5 seconds a lap in that video (with most of the advantage being in the corners, as they point out in the end). Seems pretty legit to me

Sorry but it is just not impressive.
A $56K Electro Magnetic computer aided forced induction ZL1 beating a old school suspension Boss LS that is derived from a 9 year old chassis by 2 seconds is not my idea of "WOW".
Sorry I just expected more out of a Camaro named ZL1.
ZR-1=Impressive
Z06= Impressive
Hell a regular C6 is impressive.
4th Gen in its day= impressive
ZL1=Disappointment

And if you read the thread on Camaro5 the ZL1 suffered a lot of heat soak. Track ready? Hardly.

I'm not trying to troll. I've owned 9 F-body's, 30+GM vehicles, I'm a fan, I'm just not afraid to call them out. I pained me a little to pick a new 5.0 over a 5th Gen even though the Camaro was cheaper. Even still I had to buy what I thought was the best all around car.

Yeah? Between you and me, only one of us has driven both cars on a track.

You mentioned sales numbers, I gave you something that went against your small anecdotal evidence. Problem?

Yeah, should be really ugly. I mean, look at the Fusion. What an ugly slob.

no no no no no no no no no no nooo NOO!!!!!! WTF is that.:facepalm::facepalm:

BigAls87Z28 04-17-2012 01:29 AM

You really don't like that? Really? It's a little chubby looking because it's a 4dr, but if it takes on the Fusion's face and makes it more Aston Martin, that's going to be amazing.

Expect Camaro to do something similar as Camaro and Monaro will probably end up being the same car.

Gm could have put a 1.8 in it and you would still be singing the praises, sorry.
I still say it is disapointing. Alot of owners are going to be real butt hurt when they take it to the track and a 5.0 with Dr's and tune beats it. But wait these said owners can brag about 'Ring numbers. Because that will make them feel better when a 2013 GT500 rapes them by bus lengths.

Thats super gay. That would make a nice Probe. Hopefully GM does the 6th Gen right by then.

WiMiMc 04-17-2012 07:03 AM

when will this huge wheel phase die?

greenformula92 04-17-2012 08:02 AM

I thought one of the points of the mustangs design was to remind us of the past. and then dodge and chevy followed suite because it was a great idea and it worked. are there design flaws in the camaro? Yes. should they keep the general shape of the car the same and make the design improvments using the current or similar body design? IMHO I say yes. If I could afford one of these cars I would have to seriously consider both, test drive them ALOT and see which one I liked more. They both have similar power, they are both similar size, and they look equally as nasty while paying tribute to the muscle car battle that make what we do and enjoy possible.

Looks like I need to start playing the lottery

Rape by bus lengths? I would be impressed if the new GT500 can do anything significantly better than the current GT500, never mind the ZL1.

And gay? I don't see where any of that is gay. Maybe not what you like, but not gay.

The probe was originally supposed to be the mustang replacement wasn't it?

Yes, what is more impressive is a 9 year old chassis, jammed with a forced induction engine, with no major suspension upgrades to handle an increase of 100hp, which it couldn't handle before, and no major brake upgrade.

THAT'S wayyy more impressive. Can't wait to see how well it does.

Call them out on what, exactly? It is an impressive car by any random performance matrix you can come up with. Just because it doesn't lay down 10 sec quarter miles makes not impressive? The car is very impressive, just like the Boss is VERY impressive. Your self-made performance matrix is ******** and until you put the car through the paces and drive them, all we can really talk about is how nice the ZL1 drives around town compared to the rather jarring experience when you drive a Boss LS or a GT500. The ZL1 is a great car because it does so many things very well, and it's pretty fast to boot.

This is the only sense you have made in all your posts in this section. The Mustang GT is a better driving car than the Camaro SS, no doubt about it. Power, poise, steering, road feel, etc etc. Camaro is more civil around town, but I would trade some civility for some better steering and response from the Mustang.

Your opinion may vary.
