Sandy destroyed a town( in ny i believe it was) and this was left standing http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...73CD270483.jpg |
Oakland, NJ. These two houses neighbor each other. Because of where we live, I assume these families were home when this happened...

Adam those are some crazy pictures. Did you stay in point beach?
|
I was in Belmar with Taylor till about 730 when the shark river came over our first step and the garage began filling along with the basement. We took my jeep and his tbss to oceanport seeking refuge at his parents' home. Along the way, we encountered high winds, downed trees, no power, skies lit by transformers blowing, and insane water crossings. The tbss fell victim to one but Taylor says its up and running again, thank goodness. We couldn't make it to his parents' so we turned around and stayed in kmart's parking lot in Wall till about 2 am. We headed back to the house and the water was gone from the street. Slept there and then I have been at my parents' home in Brick since.

my gf was wondering if you saw the Avon pavilion and what it was like. she would always go there.

Wow.
So was there water all the way up at the intersection in the last pic at mcdonalds? |
I personally didn't see it but there's definitely debris lines that would lead me to believe yes. That is the lowest area for the train tracks which stopped the water at the other streets. I was going to go into Mantaloking today but didn't have the heart to yet.
|
wow at the point pleasnt houses up on the boardwalk... how was the very first house next to the aquarium? my FD guys always get that house
|
Adam I don't know how close you will be able to get as far as man to looking is concerned. I know its one of the hardest hit areas on the island. Also I have a lot of good memories on the beaches in the mantoloking section. It really does make me so sad to see what's left of that area. I still cannot believe that there is a whole section of land just gone. Sandy was one angry powerful bitch
|
I help out with the police towing in the beach, bay head, and mantaloking and my boss had a couple calls in mantaloking already. I know I can get around there a little bit but I just don't know if I want to see it in person yet. They were hit hard along with every town south.

That was the best mini golf place ever. For some reason that's what hit me from those pictures.

ill try to get a few pics me and my girl took of a few areas and marinas in brick... Tuesday afternoon we were talking in waist deep water to go and inspect the damage at her sisters house (which is located on a lagoon) that faired pretty well with minimal damage. They were very lucky. many on their street not so much. try and get these pics up tonight or tomorrow... others are of Wherlan brothers marina in brick off princton ave... what a mess they have on their hands there. Again my girls fathers boat which was dry docked came within 3 inches of slipping off its blocks but again very lucky its still there with minimal damage...
|
wow those pictures from point pleasant beach are unreal. i worked there the past 2 years and lived there pretty much this past year. they were hard to look at especially since ive become so attached to the town.
