My Hoosiers say DOT approved but I would never attempt to daily on them, hence my curiosity about sizing.

Its in the range but that doesn't mean its particularly safe. Too much tire, too little wheel?

sweetbmxrider 01-24-2014 08:40 AM

Considering the rest of the car, you'll be fine.

LTb1ow 01-24-2014 08:47 AM

Meaning what.

sweetbmxrider 01-24-2014 08:54 AM

You'll be fine with too wide of a tire?

It fits, that is what they are telling you.

DOT approval has nothing to do with application. Snow tires are DOT approved and work fine as intended but are absolutely terrible on a 90* day.

Right from Hoosiers web site.

When I had my 91 RS I drove around on Hoosier QTP's for about 2 years. They aren't as terrible as you would think. Certainly nothing to drive in a down pour but damp roads were fine.

I dd my hoosier qtp. Had police behind me and nothing happened, when my opti blew stateys pulled behind me and checked my car over and said nothing. They handle pretty good for cheater slicks even in the rain

The mickeys tread width is 10.8 and a stock abs wheel is 8 so 1.4 overhang on each side. Seems like alot to me but mickey says it should be fine then it must be

Dudbird113 01-24-2014 02:46 PM

Alot of my friends dont even bat an eye to drive there slicks on the road

Its not that I don't think I can DD on them, I honestly could cause its a nice weather only car regardless, but, I couldn't afford to replace slicks twice a year or whatever it would be.

Got maybe a thousand or so miles on mine

coolmanvette75 01-24-2014 09:21 PM

I'm in a similar situation with 15s right now. I have the ET Drags but idk how I feel about highway driving with them

Dont be a sissy lol. Nothing will happen unless you drive like an d-bag

Not scared for normal driving. Scared for if I do a 60-160 pull (tx2k) and the tires unload when I let off up top...

If you whack a stone or nail you can't patch them either.

Dudbird113 01-24-2014 09:44 PM

Id use a radial, but on flip side guys go faster in the 1/4 and dont have any problem.

BarneyMobile 01-25-2014 10:30 PM

Your first choice (M&H Radial) I think would be your best bet for what you want out of a tire.
