jon good times, I ve seen a few Lt1's run those numbers w/ similar mods. 12second v6 not sure if your being a smartass or not  but im str8. procamaroz28 those are good times your uncles running. The norm for those mods on a 2v is mid to low 13's. |
looks like we have a lot of John Force type drivers here. :D

Bottom line here is......SOM LS1s are FTMFW!!!!!

if you are looking for a car to play with and enjoy, i woudl jsut buy the LT1. having extra money around to start modding the car sounds like a lot more fun that making payments and trying to save for mods at the same time.
the LS1 is the better engine, but it doesn't sound like your goal is a serious race car so it won't make much of a difference. |
I have owned 11 4th gens F-Bodies. 5 of them were LT1's. Great cars but no comparison to the LS1. So much power and more reliable IMHO. I just sold me 01 SS to get a Vette but i still have my 98 Trans Am with 145,500 miles still put down 338hp thru a A4

oh yeah? And who's driving those cobras?? Evan Smith from MM & FF? be real here, not everybody can drive like him. im talking bone stock off the showroom floor on street tires. theres your darn good drivers and then theres Mr Evan Smith. People with the Driver Mod are few and far between. Not everybody can drive like him and not every car is alike. you will have your freaks and your turds. "Evan Smith, our resident hot shoe, has an uncanny ability for running the quarter mile, as evidenced by his 12.89 run in a stock 1999 Z28 (GMHTP 7/99)" "He was able to squeeze off a best of 12.43 @ 113 mph - in an '03 terminator according to the October 2002 MM&FF" "New issue of MM&FF has Evan Smith running a best time of 12.25 @ 117.18 in a stock GT500." Ranger from LS1tech and rangeracceleration.com hit 11.2 with a C6Z06 bone stock, street tires and 10.85 with just drag radials. doesnt mean everybody is going to run that with their vette. a bit off topic, maybe; but im proving a point. just because a car might be capable of running 11s or 12s or whatever; doesnt mean the driver can do it. (and no im not bashing on any1's driving ability) |

And if those 03/04's put down 360-370rwhp... On paper it looks good. But in the End, its a driver's race. |

:bs:I consulted my mustang friend (hardcore Ford family) and they say no wai. Terminators mostly run 12.9-13.1, occasionally a lil faster, but not 12.6 on stock tires...And the 04ish GT's are like high 13s or low 14s, depending...
Even in the cold last Friday I raced an 03 GT and he ran a 14.0ish (Forget which but I could check). And he had catback/CAI. I raced a S/C Cobra who ran 12.7. Not to mention I am mainly a GM guy, but realize the 03ish cobras rock, as I am really just a Muscle Car guy, but have GM tendency because of my dad. |
why are you talking about cobras when the subject of the thread was abou buying a ls1 or a lt1

I would never diss the LT1's because i still think they look better than LS1 camaro's and it was the LT1 Camaro that made me love the F-bods so much. I also don't want to get anyone thinking the LT1 isn't all that reliable either. I had a 94 that had 183000 miles on it when i sold it and it was strong! But mod for mod, and also weight and easier to work on, the LS1 F-Body is the way to go |
