Yes it can. And it does as countless Supra owners have made that power level without touching the motor (top or bottom end). All it requires is a MUCH larger than factory turbo setup, along with all the fuel supporting mods, a good engine management system along with a tune and some race gas, and you have a 1,000 HP beast that is making reliable power all on the stock motor.
I'm not familiar with the GTR's engine, but I am confident it will be one that will be on similar lines as the Supra's in the sense that it will take lots more power/boost safely than what it came with from the factory.
