Winning a game by crap goals will not help the Devils win the series. Yeah it's a win, but damn, if they can't find a way to defeat the system they used to use themselves, then the Rangers will go on.
I wonder how many Ranger fans are cheering on their team after condemning the Devils system from the 90's, back when they used to use it? How you like them apples now? I'm a Devils fan, but my hat's off to the Rangers, and especially Henrik. They used to talk about Brodeur the way they mention Henrik now "He had an average night, not a bad night, and the Devils managed to score on him 4 times." Only they didn't really score on him the 4th time. If the Devils need to rely on Henrik having an "average" night, then they haven't figured out how to win yet. Brent Sutter needs to look at some older film of the Devils from the 90's and play the same conservative game they used to play - let the opposing team rush a lot, break up the play, and let them get tired. Then towards the end of the 2nd and all of the third, scate circles around the opposing defense and score once or twice to win the game. Boring, as some say, but effective. And WTF is up with Avery? And WTF is up with Parise getting beat up all the time? At least the officiating wasn't as bad as game 2. |
I didnt see the rangers trap yesterday

The second thing they have going for them this year, which the Devils seemed to forget, is the benefit of having large, experienced players. The Devils have some fast, nimble skaters who are finesse style players. In the past, they were more of a power team, spending time just outside the crease, fighting with the defense for position to catch the deflection or rebound. They just don't have the big players to hang near the crease this year. On the other hand, the Rangers have the larger players with the 2-3 play makers they need to set up the play then fight up front for position / shots. Combine the size of the players with the defense scheme and its a wining combo. Having said all that, the Devils spent time in #1 because they are a very good team. But this season the Rangers just figured the Devils out. Luck, and a major Devils blunder each game, help the Rangers win. They kept saying it all year - the team who blunders first, probably looses. One thing we have to take note of here, for game 4 - each game the Devils continue to improve, to a win on Sunday. If the trend continues, and the Devils dont blunder, they could win the series. |
they weren't really crap goals. When you get the puck on net they go in. They have outplayed the rangers the hole series. The refs have made some terrible calls! And when the devils go down by 2 goals then been crumbling.
Your sayin the rangers goal that martty gave them, or the goal were our defense just left the puck wide ope in front of the net was skillful goals? Avery is the terriblall he is there for is to agervate which he does an amazing job at. but to come into the series -5 and have three goals? none of his goals were skill they were giving to him by devils mistakes. Devils stop giving up chances and keep outplaying them and putting it on net goals will come just like sunday. Rangers been having a ton of breaks... the first game devils hit the post 3 times, the refs have been making terrible calls towards the devils. calling an iceing while were killing a penalty?! Salvador hitting it out of the air going out over the boards and calling that delay of game?! Wake up refs! series will be tied after tom! 2-2 GO Devs!! |
The only way the devils can win against the rangers with out the "crap goals" would be by slowing the game down alot. Especially in the garden, slow the game down so much all the fans start booing...

as for averys goal having no skill? what do u call the wrist shot thru traffic to beat marty high?? i think there was plenty of skill in that shot, and not all shots are skilled shots, but when they shots arr taken is a whole different skill. i also very much disagree the the devils have outworked the rangers. its been pretty even though i think the rangers have look a **** ton more dominant at times. im not going to argue the calls that have been made though the officiating this whole season as been abysmal. as for your devils winning the series or even tieing it at 2, i seriously seriously doubt it. |
well we will see tonight :)

As long as the Rangers can keep the stupid penalties to a minimum I think they have a really good shot at winning the series. Oh yea, smacking the puck with the stick up and over the boards while it's mid air is perfectly legit, I guess the refs shouldn't have called it and they should have kept playing   Go Rangers! |

Who makes the NHL schedule? Why does it take 2 weeks to play 7 games? Man, it used to be 2-off-3-off-2. This takes too long.

It could be anyone's game tonight they've gone against each other in four games now and both teams know how the other is going to play the game. The Rangers have been playing a good defense but they'll get tired after some good hits towards the end of the game. I just hope for some better refereeing and more fights this game lol.
