How does a rear end and new tranny equate to a nasty LS1?

those are things i have the money for at this moment. like i said depending upon how much money i have left depends upon what kind of motor/mods get done.

btw a friend of mine has an 01 ss cam/headers/six speed and stock rear and he pulls 11.99s. the goal for my car is at least a mid 11.

Check out Ron (98tadriver)'s setup. He runs a little less than that and is pretty close to stock.

I would agree except I almost forgot what it sounds like since it never goes anywhere :moon:

lastcall190 11-05-2008 09:17 AM

A nice set of ARH 1-7/8, Koni 4/3 combo, and Black ZR1s will make your car go 11s... easily :shifty:

I actually can't comment since I NEVER go to the track

i know many people have gone far with minimal mods to their lsx cars but my goal of the car is for to do it without worrying that somethings going to break. durability + speed is my goal.

i just dont see why people hate on the sounds an ls motor makes. i think they sound pretty damn good. everyone has their own opinion and its fine. just because my car isnt 'nasty' yet doesnt mean it doesnt have the capability

Mike 11-05-2008 10:42 AM

ls1's are raspy there is no arguing that, add long tubes and ory and your in hell

Frosty 11-05-2008 10:47 AM

An iron block is absolute overkill for what you want to do. There would be no benefit. It's like forging the bottom end of a LO3 to run 15's.

Then you don't have to worry about something breaking. You know the opti is going to go and you will have a rear intake manifold leak.

mc73nova 11-05-2008 11:30 AM

This ls engine was sounding real good, through a full exhaust.

 routine maintenance.

7pointoh 11-05-2008 11:36 AM

LS1 with open headers doesn't sound that great, IMO. Although I like tha performance aspect of the, I still think a great sounding exhuast note is still on the list of things to get done.

please just leave it be I WILL NEVER OWN AN LT1 CAR. if it was such a superior motor it wouldnt have been used for less than a decade before the redesign to the ls series. i also like having a v8 with a good top end. lt1's fall flat on their face at 95 mph

LTb1ow 11-05-2008 12:41 PM

Wanna prove that?
