+1 I don’t see much there more complicated than a 4th gen. I'm not going to argue prices of new cars vs. 6-10 years old cars, that's irrelevant.

The Chevrolet Camaro convertible and Z28 high performance variant’s launch has been postponed for an unknown period of time by General Motors.

weight transfer. with theoretically unlimited grip, the factory 3rd gen torque arm/lower control arm design could put about 75% of the cars weight on the rear axle. The roll center design of the GNX was even better, you could theoretically get 100% weight transfer. Without a front/rear axis you cant get a whole lot of weight transfer. There are best of both worlds designs but nothing is better than a straight axle. And i dont mind the handling one bit. IRS has a huge advantage on bumpy roads and ride quality, and the fact that it can have other than 0 camber, but thats about it.

Edit: when it comes to street cars gear ratio and tires have a lot more to do with it than the suspension design

that camaro daskinnyguy posted is SEXY! like the ZR1 almost.

Rear end was designed to handle over 500hp, care of Holden who had plans to drop in, and do, LS7's.
The half shafts are staggerd in size, a designed they got from the ZR1 for added strength.

so whats with the numb steering claims?

Dunno. Very odd, I must say. Its one of the most disappointing things I keep hearing. I dont know what it is, an I hope its something that was just tied into preproduction cars, and that it might ahve had some last min tuning...lets hope.

i guess that means, just like 4th gens, its not gonna be long till we see solid 12 bolts and 9" upgrades availible

even most cobra owners toss out their irs

Cobra's IRS were band-aided in there. Take a 25 year old chassis, throw in old IRS design, and you have garbage.

Over time parts have become cheap, nothing really too complicated or impossible when fixing it... I can't imagine the electronic and mechanical hell for modifying (all the damn airbags, braking system, independent rear axle L99 4 cyl shutdown) uhh I can see imagine how many people will mess with that on their own and fail miserably. Although changing spark plugs and wires will finally leave skin left on my hands and arms. Simply the 4th gens are definitely hands on when it comes to modifying, yes the interior is a little disgusting at times especially here looking at the new 5th gen but it was easy and fun to be stripped apart. Now that we got that over with... waiting on the trans-am lol

People said the same thing abotu the new fangled fuel injected, comptuer controled third gens. HOW ARE WE GUNNA HAVE A CAMARO WITHOUT LEAF SPRINGS RARRARARAR!??!!?
BTW, I have seen around the engine, and even with it being set bac in the bay, there is plenty of space to change plugs. Pass side is tight, but driver side is peeeeeeerfect.
4th gens were, for thel ongest time, very hard to work on. OBDII tuning was very hard to do, performance parts for LS1 cars were EXPENSIVE and people took them to places. Now its not nearly as expensive, and lots of people have started doing it themselves. Times changes, people become more comfortable, and then its common place. Hell, 15 years ago everyone was hopping up and making "chips" for cars. Now, you have to search high and low for someone to make GOOD custom chips for OBD1 cars.

Apparently they fixed the supplier issue, but Z28 has gone back to the drawing board to reconfigure it.

Yes, there are many other cars that get 29 mpg or close to it. Let's list a few: Honda Accord V6., Toyota Camry V6, Hyundai Sonata V6. None of those cars manage 304 horsepower.
