lee was almost perfect, utley was almost perfect, yankee bats were asleep, and it still took a bullpen implosion to make it a lock for the phils. this is gonna go at least 6...

Frosty 10-28-2009 10:57 PM

A bullpen implosion to make it a lock? The Yankees never got anyone passed 2nd base IIRC, 2-0 was still a lock with Lee going all 9.

Game 2 is going to be interesting. Pedro is going to either be lights out like he was in Game 2 of the NLCS or he's going to get shelled.

so if it was still 2-0 going into the 9th and they brought lidge in you would have been confident?

Frosty 10-28-2009 11:02 PM

Yes. Lidge has been himself in the playoffs. I'm not worried about Lidge, actually I'm not worried about the bullpen. They've been back to their old selves since the playoffs started aside from Game 2 against LA. They're going to give up runs most likely, they're playing NY....but am I going to get scared if/when they come into the game tomorrow night? Nope. The media is making it a bigger deal than it is. They've pitched almost perfectly since the post season started. The regular season is a completely different story, but this isn't the regular season.

The Yankees are who they are, I get nervous with most of their lineup but it is what it is. If they Yankees score then they score, I don't see a bullpen implosion from either team really. The Yankees bullpen issues tonight will be an isolated incident, and if you think about the game it didn't really have any impact on it.

phillies played great baseball. lee was awesome.

Slow-V6 10-28-2009 11:37 PM

Go Phillies!!

BigAls87Z28 10-29-2009 12:44 AM

CC and Lee both pitched great games. CC did leave that fastball...twcie...over the center of the plate. One time? Ok. Second time? After he was winging at that cutter like a 10 year old? ugh...pissed me off.
Should have put Coke in instead of Huggies. Marte should be filling up rosin bags or something...ugh

Stupercharged 10-29-2009 04:17 PM

GO YANKEES! I hope they're bullpen learned how to pitch over night.

BUT...the pen has blown chunks in the post season, except Mr Rivera. If the pen does not improve ASAP this may not end well.

JL8Jeff 10-29-2009 07:20 PM

Both pitchers look to have good stuff already. Could be a similar game to last night.

NastyEllEssWon 10-29-2009 07:47 PM

what a catch!!!! showing a-rod how a diving catch is done

JL8Jeff 10-29-2009 07:51 PM

I can't believe AJ keeps throwing fastballs for a strike on the first pitch and the Phils still aren't swinging at it!

Frosty 10-29-2009 09:17 PM

What a great game so far.

baddest434 10-29-2009 09:20 PM

chop suey

great game so far is right!

JL8Jeff 10-29-2009 09:33 PM

Burnett's breaking stuff has been great. Pedro made 1 mistake to Tex and Matsui made a great swing on a great pitch!

Frosty 10-29-2009 09:38 PM

It's like the roles have been reversed from Game 1 and Game 2. The game isn't over yet though.

Frosty 10-29-2009 09:44 PM

I think the umps just blew a call there....

Yeah, big time!

BonzoHansen 10-29-2009 09:47 PM

Ya think??

Frosty 10-29-2009 09:48 PM

I can see how the 1st base ump called that a catch but how/why did no other ump overrule him?

Frosty 10-29-2009 10:01 PM

Wow, pretty wide open strike zone there on Utley.

Nice double play, that's probably the game there.

BonzoHansen 10-29-2009 10:08 PM

HOF pitchers historically earn wide strikes.

You mean nice make up call. Utley was safe but no way that really makes up for the blown call earlier.

BigAls87Z28 10-29-2009 10:09 PM

I love the cheap slide by Victorino. I mean...just off the bag, ok. But 3-4 ft off the damn thing, right at Jeter? Cheap
