Looks like its getting really close to paving time at sonic!

Nice. I drove by there yesterday in the Camaro since it was so nice out. Looks like most of the snow is gone by now. Nothing that should stop them from paving. It's kind of tucked away off rt 22. When I was trying to find where it was, it caught me off guard because it sits further back than the buildings on both sides of it.

hey guys someone put me on the mailing list for meets in the somerset area... would like like to come out when ever you guys meet

redbanditZ28 03-11-2010 07:46 AM

Yeah, we should all get together as other people already mentioned. I find that some of the central NJ meets still tend to be far away from the rt 22 and Green Brook area of Somerset county.

I drove past on Saturday and the lot has been paved. Looks like they need to a little bit of curb and landscaping work.

redbanditZ28 03-15-2010 11:17 AM

Cool. Thankfully tomorrow and most of this week are supposed to be nice. That is great news.

redbanditZ28 03-19-2010 09:03 AM

Okay, we've had some great days of warm, sunny, dry weather. Any updates? Any one drive by there lately? That would suck if they didn't take advantage of these beautiful days to finish landscaping and whatever else outside.

Whiplash Performance 03-19-2010 09:13 AM

Drove by it this morning and saw the paving trucks in action.

Nice. I really hope they open by next week. It already feels like it's been way too long after starting this topic on this forum.

It's been almost a year now since they put the "Sonic coming soon" sign up.

redbanditZ28 03-22-2010 08:40 AM

Boy, I hope they are done by now. They had 4 great days back to back to work on things.

So because it isn't done yet, I drove all the way down below Toms River on this past beautiful Saturday, exit 80 off the GSP, to go to Roy Rogers. lol. It turns out their milk shakes aren't the same as how they used to be. They tasted more fake than McDonalds. No real fruit in the Strawberry milkshakes like they used to have. Thus, another childhood memory lost in reality. They did make a real good and tasty grilled chicken sandwich though and the place was surprisingly packed. It was an actual restaurant location and not in a rest stop. At least I don't have to spend anymore time wondering whether I was missing out on something good. But it made for a nice drive in the Camaro on a warm and sunny day.

Whiplash Performance 03-23-2010 09:11 AM

It looks pretty much done. The lines are painted on the ground, i see the menus in the stalls. I guess all they need now are employees.

redbanditZ28 03-23-2010 12:27 PM

Cool. That shouldn't be a problem. I think most of the restaurant staff for restaurants on rt 22 are high schoolers or kids just out of high school. I know Carabba's has a mostly young service staff, as does that Hoagie hut place, and Bonefish grill. So I could only assume there'll be some kids around to hire.

Sonic opened today!

TAdan 03-29-2010 01:48 PM

I cant wait to see what the traffic jam infront of the place looks like on my way home from work.

Im not going to lie, I am pretty excited. I am hoping to hit it sometime this weekend If I can get outta work on time

redbanditZ28 04-01-2010 01:01 AM

That's cool. Glad to see it's doing good business right off the bat. I swear, these places are gold mines in NJ. I really wish I had the money to start my own franchise. I have no doubt in my mind it would make anyone money hand over fist. The one in Franklin that opened a few months back is still getting a strong flow of customers.

I am with you guys, I'll try this weekend, or wait until the mad rush calms down.

Whiplash Performance 04-01-2010 08:23 AM

I went there on Monday the line wasn't too bad i had to wait about 20 minutes. Went there last night with Chris and we got a stall within 5 minutes and then got our food within 10 minutes of ordering.

redbanditZ28 04-01-2010 04:25 PM

Not too shabby. I may go there tonight being its so nice out right now.
