The only reason I brought up times is because Kasey, who owns a car that can barely get out of it's own way is bringing up performance

Previous best was 14.7 with a dying trans and high mileage engine

While it's not gonna run with a heads / cam LS1 car, Kasey's car certainly isn't stock and would likely surprise you on a dragstrip.

Cause of how slow as balls it is?

So third gen vs 4th gen day this spring?

Minus Bill and Vinny, they have way to fast cars.

Tru2Chevy 02-14-2010 07:55 PM

Sure.....we'll get Jeff to bring his 3rd gen out instead of Bill.

Otay.

I am thinking, that a 3rd gen owner aptly pointed out, there is more to a car than a 1/4... so lets have a rust spot/faded paint contest as well.

I drive a 2nd gen with a 4th gen drivetrain...does that average out to a 3rd?

I like how the 4th gen drivers are the ones to talk the most crap

crappy ass 305s? no thanks!

To be completely honest, I think my T/A handles quite well. The best handling car I have ever owned was an RX-7, I dont think any F-body could keep up with that thing stock to stock. How do you like them apples!

LTb1ow 02-14-2010 10:27 PM

I am not a fan on fruit thank you very much.

3rd gens DO handle better than 4th gens. And yes IRS is def king on the street handling wise. Wish i could get some power out of my 924 to match the handling and braking power. i still love me some solid axles tho!

DAMMMMNNN:jake:ahha

But i need a little advice ok
so after like a week and 4 tanks of gas i found a
a 1989 L98 V8 with a 700r4 and full wire harness & computer out a camaro ....... price 600 :w00t:
now the problem is that 4 other guys are eye balling it so i need be quick

now should i just get the motor and swap it in my car, and kick the v6 to the curb.

now i know i will have to go over this motor with a fine tooth comb as well as the trans and harness. but i know i need to get different motor mounts, springs, brakes, exhaust and basically turn it into a V8 bird. rockauto has alot of the parts i need but i was just wondering want you guys think. is it a good idea it's my first swap and my car has no rust or frame damage it's just a beaten bird lol.

so should i keep looking or had i found my golden egg ?

I've owned 4 third gen's and currently on my first fourth gen... 3rd gens handle rather well, and TBH I enjoyed driving my 86 T/A and my 89 Pro/Am more than my LS1. Sure, they are slow as hell, there's nothing to argue about that, but the ride quality and handling was very comforting.
