another thought that may or may not matter - do they need to fold forward? I know you back seats are only for looks, I'm just not sure if you need the seats to fold forward. some seats do not.

Blackbirdws6 08-20-2012 05:57 AM

That's a tasteful looking seat and having them fold forward would be ideal since I do put things back there; just not people. If this Corbeau dealer actually exists and I get to try the seats, I'm going to ask if they know any good places to get them recovered. Maybe I can even buy a set uncovered or w/e. I'm pretty sold on doing the color match. I do like the racier styling but when recovered, the looks will be toned down.

I may buy the ones I like and just throw them in the car then swap them out for the stockers for shows or w/e. It's only four nuts to change them out.

LTb1ow 08-20-2012 07:10 AM

Swap em out for car shows he said, its only four bolts they said.

Heh. It's really not bad until I decide to snap one of those studs in the floor. Only thing that would take time is hooking up the connectors for the stock power seat.

Have you tried looking at Grand prix Gxp seats?? those come in Tan

Belleville, NJ. Only about 35 min from my work. I called them this morning and will likely be stopping in Wednesday afternoon to see what I like. They also have an upholstery guy as well.....so bottom line, I may be getting into trouble.

Wow, I never knew there was a dealer so close. That's pretty awesome!

Susquehanna Motorsports also sells seats and other racing equipment however they only deal with Sparco. 1.5 hrs of driving and I'm not all that confident the selection will be diverse enough to make a decision. Hopefully this place has a number of styles, particularly the ones I'm most interested in.

I might make a trip out there myself. I have a buddy out in Belleville that is looking for seats as well for his Z4.

I bet the 2 seats you walk out owning on Wednesday are worth more than my first firebird

Couple weeks but still need to talk to more upholsters to get them finished the way I want them.

Blackbirdws6 09-11-2012 07:12 PM

Seats arrived. I did a quick test fit and everything is PERFECT. These are the wider versions of the LG1s and even though I measured every which way to make sure they would fit, I was still nervous. The top bolster on the seat just touches the side bar on the 6-point. They fit and feel great so tomorrow morning I'm off to get a quote to have them reupholstered in tan leather.

Seat looks good. Your paint on the other hand, def needs some more cherry...

Mike 09-11-2012 09:31 PM

If the centers were tan instead of gray. It would work

It will look better when I get them redone and yes I did buy two. Paint was cherry before I decided to use my bench grinder on some cast plastic headlights.

Bought the cheapest version since I planned on recovering them anyway.

sweetbmxrider 09-12-2012 07:13 AM

Well done sir. I would let the upholster know that you are tight on the clearance already so he takes that into account when recovering.

LTb1ow 09-12-2012 08:26 AM

wait, why do you have two different seats now...?

Dropped them off this morning to get the work done. I told them the tolerances in the top were very tight so don't modify any of the padding. They are going to do some work on the bottom to make it look better when its all done.

Just test fitting the one seat?

LTb1ow 09-12-2012 08:34 AM

Oh, so the tan passenger one is the new one? I like that look.

sweetbmxrider 09-12-2012 10:19 AM

Oh hey, bro, your floor mats are upside down.

Mezzy 12-09-2012 11:36 PM

What's wrong with the stock leathet seats?
