78camaro 03-12-2006 09:58 PM

you know what you really need go spend that 31$ you got on a good ol' haynes manual and like ian said go right at it, i was afraid like you but i just started ripping **** apart and puttign it back together take alot of pictures when takign stuff apart so you have a referance to go back to if you dotn remember you learn alot on your own i still dotn know so much but ive come along way from doign it on my own and just reading articles and **** its all a learning process

WayFast84 03-12-2006 10:02 PM

I got a haynes manual...Its like pointless....

How do you drain a radiater? I got like all the bolts holding the radiater on but 2..I need to jack the car up again..lol.

Ian 03-12-2006 10:15 PM

there should be a drain on the bottom right or bottom left. if there isnt, just pull off the lower radiator hose.

Gotchyah thanks alot man, and everyone else!! Im actually confident about pulling the radiater!!

78camaro 03-12-2006 10:26 PM

i hope your keeping all the screws together nice n neat, how is a haynes manual useless???

unstable bob gable 03-12-2006 10:31 PM

Not for nothing...but installing a cam isn't really a walk in the park job. Are you planning on just slapping it in, or doing it the right way and degreeing it?
If I were you I'd stick with some basic bolt ons to get your skills up, and then worry about things like cams...

u should have gottem a catch/drain pan. lol, just because theres a vale to drain the antifreeze, doesnt mean it comes out right there, it WILL run all along the lower rad support and drip/pour everywhere.

Savage_Messiah 03-13-2006 02:48 PM

Got cat litter or something for that?

BonzoHansen 03-13-2006 02:54 PM

news paper works as well, just lots of it... Also if you know any Fire Department people I think you can go to any firehouse and get a few scoops of the stuff they use for accidents for free. Thats what I used with my old T/A

WayFast84 03-14-2006 05:19 PM

Ok so I like did every thing I could..still cant get the radiater out..Im gonna try to get the las manifold bolt off the passanger side when I find my paintball gun so I can use the barrel for my leverage...Can people please come over to help me?!?Like sat.? I need this done!! and Im trying my best!!

Savage_Messiah 03-14-2006 05:21 PM

As long as I don't have work again and someones going who has better tools than me... and necessary tools for that matter... ill go

V 03-14-2006 05:23 PM

Why cant you get the radiator out? it has the 10mm bolts up top, the middle and lower fan shroud bolts, upper rad hose, lower rad hose, over flow hose, maybe a heater hose, and 2 trans line fittings...then it just slides up and out.

trashman01 03-15-2006 09:34 PM

damn matt, i wasnt that bad, as for the cam, unless u running a really hight lift(which i doubt) u dont have to degree it, when u put it in, just make sure the timing chain marks are lined up.and make sure u use alot of assemble lube and the car goes right to 2000K for rpms to break it in since its a flat tappet cam. if u need more help, call my cell 203-313-9050

WayFast84 03-16-2006 05:34 PM
