 it's about time the factory muscle is here if you can't handle the power that don't buy it . Period. It's about time the killers are here, so don't be scared, the new factory cars will rule the streets all yeah. Period.

Even Europe is giving this mustang the thumbs up. Usually they are opposed of live axle cars. I think the best part of it all, is that at 650hp, they are advertising a no gas guzzler tax. try and perform that 20 years ago.

The first line was a joke. GM, nor Ford or anyone else, will release a car that they can't milk every last single drop of publicity out of the damn car.

I applaud Ford for the new engine, should be a ton-o-fun to drive. A few of the journos in LA were trying to figure out how this car does 200+mph when a car that is some 700lbs lighter and a **** load more aerodynamic (Z06) can't. I'm calling shens on that.

As for your opinion, soundsgoodbro.avi

Probably threw it on a dyno and got to 200mph. They forgot to tell people that they didn't add the resistance of the air when they came out with those numbers.

The first shot over the bow from GM was when they said to bring it to The Ring, see who's faster, and they backed down. To stand behind your work and accept the challange, but lose is one thing, but to basically admit that your shooting your mouth off too much by declining right away is another.

Camaro Nation:

As you know, the blogs lit up with the announcement of the new 650-horsepower Mustang GT500, and I wanted to give you my perspective on the latest challenge from Dearborn.

The Mustang has been playing catch up since the moment the fifth-gen Camaro arrived in 2009. Since then, Camaro has been the best-selling sports car in America, indicating that consumers know which car offers the best performance, style and safety.

It is no coincidence that Mustang has introduced three 100-horsepower increases to keep pace with Camaro: First their V-6 was bumped to 305; then their V-8 went to 412, and now the GT500.

Even with the 100-hp increase, the 2013 GT500 will still not match the technology and sophistication of the 2012 Camaro ZL1.

The days of "no replacement for displacement," are over, and it's not enough to be fast in a straight line. With the Camaro ZL1, we set out to deliver integrated performance, and be equally good at acceleration, braking, grip, and turning. As you will soon see, that's why the Camaro ZL1 will set the performance benchmark for the segment.

Our approach was to make every Camaro ZL1 fully track-capable, from the factory. As we announced today, the ZL1 Coupe will start at $54,995 with standard Magnetic Ride Control, standard Performance Traction Management, and standard track-capable equipment such as a rear-differential cooler, brake cooling ducts, and an engine and transmission cooler.

None of our customers will have to buy extra options – or modify their ZL1 – for track-day usage. That is not the case for the current GT500, or their new car.

For Mustang fans, you're welcome. Clearly the Camaro has encouraged Ford to throw everything they can at us.

For Camaro fans, trust me, we are always listening to your feedback, and working hard to keep the Camaro in the lead.

Al O.

Will be very interesting. GT500 has the power to weight ratio, but Camaro has the chassis and the technology.
Nissan GTR runs faster than more powerful, lighter Porsche Turbo. Possible...

I dislike sophistication, it means more stuff you don't want to pay for if it breaks >_>

I lol'd at this

The Camaro has been playing "ketchup" since it was discontinued in 2002. It's easy to just stop a car and start from scratch if given 7 years.... I'm still a lover of the new Mustangs and hater of new Camaros.

Because you touch yourself.

Is anyone curious what the aftermarket will look like once these come out? We already know generally what both will be capable of but I'm curious what these cars will push with basic bolt-ons.

It think the biggest thing your all forgetting about is the price. You won't be seeing three of these on your way to the store. Also, where are you able to go to perform said 200mph? You'll get a couple idiots behind the wheel and wrap them around a tree, but other then that, the majority of these will be garage queens, since car collecting is a bigger deal then in the 60's and 70's.

AC expressway lol. saw some videos on youtube from a toy run a few yrs ago
