The water is at the bottom of the pan, I believe you know that. It may only be a trickle in there but if its salt water, no thanks. Had some sitting in a throttle body and it did a number on it. The problem with the water in the interior is it getting into the airbag circuit. Many stories are coming to light of people driving down the road and then the bags are deploying. Much cheaper to total a car than what could come of an airbag deployment. On the note of water in a car, Circle Dodge in Brick had 300 cars on the lot. The 2013's have a sensor down in the floor to detect water in the event of the car entering water, like if you drove off the road into a river, the windows go down. They are set up like air bags so they work even if the key is off. The cars flooded and the windows went down in the middle of the storm. All of the cars were totaled.

oh i don't question the car needs to be totaled or why. just funnin'
|
Yeah I'm just saying in general as some people aren't really sure. Just trying to pass info along as I get it. Train came down the tracks for the first time since sandy. They are just testing and checking the rails and what have you though.

The wife & I have been thinking about purchasing a newer used crossover for her. Now that we are sure to see a wave of Sandy cars come into the market, we are probably going to hold off for a while.

I live in Hoboken, the flooding was insane, thousands of cars were totalled and all first floor apartments have to be gutted.
This is after the water receded a lot http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...55FA290D98.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...5605EAF956.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...5620907FA0.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...5629630D57.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...5632EC85AD.jpg back seat of my 89 camaro rs http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...54FD11250D.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...50C6C6ECF0.jpg I had the car for 13 years, insurance totalled it, such a shame http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g4...50D084CDAC.jpg |
wow i havent seen any pics of the hoboken area yet, just the shore.
i had an 88 in that same color that i put back together and painted and sold last year... very nice color. did they give u a buy back option? if thats as deep as the water got, i couldnt imagine it being a loss, all the 3rd gens electrontics are higher up |
seawater up to the belt line? No thanks, scrap.

I considered buying it back, but I would have to replace the carpets, seats and wires that were corroded. Then try to get all the salt out of all the crevices and combat the rust. Its just too big of a project to do in my parking garage. It started up a couple days after Sandy, but now the starter seized up from the saltwater. Insurance gave me a lot more than I expected for it, so it makes it a little easier to part with.

Looks like some of the Sandy flood total cars are starting to show up on the internet with flood salvage titles

"Oh, Oh! Look I just got this dope ride mad cheap, and it even smells like the jersey shore inside!"

We really got nothing over here it was pretty good. Lights went out for 2 days and a never ending leak in a tire that's all.
