wtf none of the nerds have doom3?

Tru2Chevy 05-24-2006 01:41 PM

I have Doom 3, but I haven't installed it. I don't know how well it will play on my system (XP 1700+, 640 MB pc-133, Nvidia FX 6200 128mb).

Anyone ever play Max Payne? This thread just made me remember that I never did get around to finishing that game...

um..how come all the numbers look bigger except the ram thing but my laptop still doesnt play doom? wtf? enlighten me!

Brando56894 05-24-2006 03:19 PM

the harddrive on your laptop is alot slower then the one in you desktop pc

Tsar 05-24-2006 03:20 PM

where does it say that? or is it one of those "common knowledge" things for nerds?

Tru2Chevy 05-24-2006 03:20 PM

Hmm...surprised Doom plays on that system with only 512mb RAM. I'll definetly have to try to install it later tonight.

Common knowledge. Laptop HDD is 5400 RPM, desktop HDD is usually 7200 RPM.

Chances are the desktop also has better video, and beater heat management.

ohh...so can i make it faster

Tru2Chevy 05-24-2006 03:25 PM

There are a few 7200 RPM laptop drives out, but they are pricey.

Best to just get a WD Raptor (10,000 RPM drive) for the desktop, along with another 512 mb of RAM.

i might if it wasnt a "beater". i call it that cuz my parents use it and theres a ****ton of viruses and spyware and god knows what. the piece of **** barely runs and that's why i bought me a laptop so no one else can use it and **** it up. I really dont feel like buying another computer and then buying parts for it to make it faster - it would probably break too just like my car... thats the only reason i asked if i can make the laptop run doom. guess not.

Dark_Knight7096 05-24-2006 05:33 PM

Max Payne was awesome, I played the first one for X-box. It was a great game, never got around to playin the second one though. Good ending but it was kinda cyclical.

:werd:

western digital came out with a new raptor, the raptox X its $300 though :( but then again it spins at 10k rpms and has a 16 meg cache

as for the spyware on your parent's computer vitali search google for a program called hitman pro and install it. it runs like 15 different spyware programs automatically, so all you have to do is hit start and walk away for a half hour :) before you start it go into the options and put a check mark next to "accept liscence agreements" or else it wont be automatic it will ask you each time if you accept the agreement...

Savage_Messiah 05-24-2006 06:35 PM

if by 15 your mean 6, i think...

Brando56894 05-25-2006 02:21 AM

ehh 6, 15 same thing.... i runs a decent amount of them thats all i know and it gets the job done..

Dark_Knight7096 05-25-2006 09:59 PM

i have adaware and spybot and the professional edition of avast! I've never had any issues
