Damn, It seems like I'm the lightweight in this thread. Gone are the days when I used to be 220 pounds. Don't hurt me big burly men

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 10:17 AM

Ya, three to four eggs, and whatever meat I can find in the fridge thrown into the mix.

First I must say that I lose and gain weight super quick, almost effortlessly at time. Its a blessing and a curse.

The way I got down to 185 was simply by changing what I ate on daily basis and sticking to it. I used to go to the gym the same amount that I do now, but I did not watch what I would eat at all. I could eat few slices of pizza for breakfast, some pasta for lunch and go out for steak later on. This of course be combine with my normal workout ingestion of whey, or back then weight gainer.. I had abundance of calories going on.

One day I just didn't want to look like I did anymore. I didn't have a gut hanging over my belt but I new I had some extra weight on. So I decided to lose it.

Took me about a semester of eating clean, and lifting just as much as I was before, plus incorporating the "holy **** cardio day" that I talked about earlier. I got down to 190 by December, and later on to 180.

I hated being 180 pounds, didn't seem like a good number. Plus I was a lot weaker than I was at 220. So this semester I'm slowly gaining weight, but in good clean fashion. I got myself to be almost as strong as I was before, with the exception of leg strength. I miss that the most. Squats used to be my favorite exercise because I could put up 405 pounds on the bar and go to town with it. Now I struggle when I approach 300, its mentally disturbing... But I'll get there.

I did it for cosmetic reasons reason, I didn't like the look of uncut 220 lbs.. 185 is much, much better. My gf agrees

Yea, but for me, lifting for the "cut" look is stupid and guido like. I like being bulky but not fat. Its all personal preference I guess.

Tsar 03-28-2009 10:39 AM

Damn, I write novels!

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 10:40 AM

So who does military press with dumbells?

It makes me feel weak. :( lol

It is personal preference. I prefer it this way. Plus as I said, I'm almost as strong as I was before with the exception of legs. So the majority of my loss was fat, which is pretty useless.

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 10:45 AM

Yup not downing you, just commenting. The people that do a lot of reps with no weight anger me. I will stop ranting, lol.

 I dislike them too! I'm not a fan of being in the gym for a long time so I rarely do more than 8 reps per set. Which means I have to go heavy most of the time, to cut my time at the gym.

I also dislike people who don't to legs... They look funny.

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 10:50 AM

Hey now! :(

One day I will get a sqat rack, one day...

Tsar 03-28-2009 10:55 AM

um...you could squat with DB's but I think that's a pita. get a squat rack!

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 10:59 AM

No where to put one. :(

And I do not want to join a damn gym, argg.

I'm sure you said why before, but um..why? too crowded?

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 11:04 AM

Yea, and I just have a better mindset when I am alone and lifting, IDK, people bother me.

Tsar 03-28-2009 11:13 AM

Gotcha, different strokes for different folks.

LTb1ow 03-28-2009 11:14 AM

Yea and most importantly, I can listen to my sweet lifting playlist really freaking loud and no one can complain. ;)

madness410 03-28-2009 12:31 PM

matt i can teach u good leg workouts you can do with dumbells. but this is the reason why i joined a gym, i have a squat rack at home but i need to buy more weight. i squat 345 at the gym and deadlift 35...and those are compound excersizes and are really good...like the benchpress is for chest.

as for looks...i know what u are talking about the guido look. im not a big fan either but if you have size and your body fat is low you are going to look like that...hence body builders lol.

more reps less weight is BS...some say "oh it will help me get toned"..BS. working out muscles is working out muscles. i mean i guess it may help if u go out of breath and get a cardio workout but there are better ways to get cardio

i do....mostly with the smith machine though. dumbells take a lot of control. i could put up like 150 with the smith....but dumbells maybe 50 each arm.
