sounds like southern bergen county is badly under water, with people trapped on the 2nd floor of their homes

WayFast84 10-30-2012 05:50 AM

Supposedly news 12 NJ was rescued by boats this morning in Edison. Raritan center is under about 4ft of water now.

deadtrend1 10-30-2012 06:16 AM

Just seen on the news, theres a container ship parked on front street on Staten Island ...

OG 10-30-2012 06:32 AM

Well the powers out and my phones got just enough juice for another post... FML

deadtrend1 10-30-2012 06:45 AM

Only thing that happened here was the power flickered once and the tv rebooted. Lots of leaves on the cars.

PolarBear 10-30-2012 07:19 AM

Is it over?

The_Bishop 10-30-2012 07:30 AM

What a mess. I'm used to dealing with disasters and I'm not even sure where to start.

First world problems.

LTb1ow 10-30-2012 08:40 AM

Sandy did us dirty.

BonzoHansen 10-30-2012 08:46 AM

That sucks. I just came back from checking the baseball complex for damage. Traffic lights are out all over makes It stupid dangerous. My suggestion to all is stay off the roads if possible.

JL8Jeff 10-30-2012 08:48 AM

The whole shore area is gonna be a mess. The barrier islands all looked like they were overwhelmed with water let alone wind damage. Most of Ewing is without power, but I'm at work and it might be the only section of Ewing with power right now.

Featherburner 10-30-2012 08:52 AM

Sandy will probably be the most costly storm NJ has ever had!

Can you call my work and tell them that? Oh wait they don't have power, or phones, or sections of roof. Thankful that I only have tonight and then I am off

You chose poorly

The_Bishop 10-30-2012 11:55 AM

Well, cleaned up a small fraction of the mess. Enough to assess any damage to the house from the tree landing somewhat on it.

Gutters are banged up a bit. Lost 1 shingle that I have, once it stops raining I'll get that back into place.

Couple of small divots in the shingles, not outright holes.

Got off cheap compared to some. The shore area is *devastated*.

BonzoHansen 10-30-2012 12:02 PM

Yes, the shore areas are devastated. Check out the facebook group JerseyShoreHurricaneNews, lots of pics. Towns like seaside will not be the same. If I'm off work again tomorrow I'll cruise to belmar to look

Blackbirdws6 10-30-2012 12:29 PM

Power is still out but no damage to the house. I am thankful. Hanging at a local friends place who amazingly still has power. Hope everyone else made it through relatively Ok.

This article says train cars were washed onto the turnpike! Yeah, over hyped storm I guess.

WayFast84 10-30-2012 12:47 PM

I heard about the train cars, Christie said every line has damage and its gonna be a a long time to fix the damage. NYC subways could take 4 days to pump the water out. That's from the time the power is back on.

I need to get my hands on a generator or 2 after this for sure.
