Don't speed this month...

Got an e-mail from somebody I trust (you should too) saying the Troopers will be out for "Traffic control" starting next week. Says they'll even be using unmarked cars on Rt.1, Rt.130, Rt.280, Rt.80, Rt.78, Rt.24, The G.S. Parkway and the Turnpike. Most of it will be done during commuting periods. Say's it'll last about a month. Now for the part I don't know is true, they'll be paid overtime.
Don't believe me, do, I don't care. I'm just warning you because somebody was nice enough to do the same to me.

Thanks Jon! :)

NLinnear 05-04-2005 08:34 PM

I think it may not be only the Troopers who are out in force

WOW WTF GOOD MOVE DICK CODY YOU F|<ING :loser:

If this is "true", I guess the tickets handed out WITH the assistance of taxpayers money, are going to be paying for the overtime correct?!

JPiZZiJP 05-04-2005 08:55 PM

Yeah seriously. Thanks for the heads up :)

But on a side note, none of you should be worried about speeding! We should all be doing the speed limit like good little f-body drivers hehe

add 287 to the list...here's the email:

I was doing an install last week for a New Jersey State trooper. While I was there, he told me that starting this Monday, May 2, Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers over time. There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways. They are the following:

I-295 north and south

1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south

1-80 east and west

I-287 north and south

I-78 east and west

1-195 east and west

1-280 east and west

Rt. 130 north and south

Garden State Parkway north and south

I’m warning everyone now that 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bring in all their part timers on full time. If you work in New Jersey, New York, or CT, you must take one of there interstates, routes, or parkways. It’s up to you how fast you are doing when they do. I was told 101.5 FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don’t forget speeding tickets are on you. You’ve been warned. Good Luck

This is garbage.

They do that up here every spring on US 9 in Wappinger Falls (3rd biggest street racing venue in the US according to car and driver) and call it the "Traffic Safety Corridor". I got a ticket 2 years ago for 60 in a 55 and they banged me for 60 in a 55 in court. I can't even see the difference between 60 and 55 on my speedometer!

jims69camaro 05-05-2005 06:32 AM

it actually makes pretty good sense for them to do this. hell, just circulating the rumor makes sense from their viewpoint, as for at least a week people will be doing the speed limit. a month is a long time, i don't doubt they could drum up 9 mil in tickets in that amount of time.

there are certain spots in the state that draw the anal-retentives out of the woodwork - and they're the ones that write for 5 miles over. hell, 5 miles over could be a slight change in tire size, speedometer needs recalibrating, etc. most cops know this and know the difference between 5 over and 15 over (in fines, court costs and points) and would rather go after the big fish.

i wish for once we could get a straight answer out of a cop about tickets: when they write them, when they'll pull someone over, ticket quotas (i believe they exist, but they swear up and down that they don't), etc. if i was a cop, i would rather jack an out-of-stater that has no respect for our roads and is doing 85 in a 65 that bust the balls of a local for 5 over the limit. but that's just me...

SteveR 05-05-2005 07:33 AM

Great. I hate tickets. Looks like they will be all over my entire route to and from work. Hey, I have a brilliant idea. If they pull me over on a nice day and ask me why I was speeding I could just say "the speed limit sign says 'weather permitting' and if you look, it's a great day, so, yea, the weather was permitting me to go 90". I bet he'll buy it :D

that sounds as bad as the Iroc Camaro Dude that has a "sweet ass ride" so the cops bust his balls and he can outrun them because they are in "****box wagons, standard issue cop cars" and they're jealous of his "sweet ass ride", even though their radar bounces off of his "special order t-tops"...

JerzLT1 05-05-2005 08:30 AM

just got pulled over on Rt9 lastnight but i was doin 20 over and got a ticket.... caught me comin around a corner on the part of 9 that NEVER has any traffic... first time i ever saw a cop thru there. anyone know how many points 20 over is? and will it void the ticket if he wrote that i was born on 9/15/05?

Fasterthanyou 05-05-2005 11:11 AM

Couple weeks ago I got pulled over for doing 50 in a 25. Damn those downhill 25 sections! Anyways, cop was nice and we chatted a little bit because I was unclear of when it turned into a 45 (I was pulled over just after the 45 sign) and he said it doesn't turn 45 until this sign... anyways. He reduced it to 34 in a 25 and I was on my way.

"But officer, how could I be speeding if I"m not even born yet?"

Man, I wish my mom still dispatched for the NJSP. Hmm, wait, I have a friend who does...maybe she'll know somethin about this...

ProtekYoNutz 05-05-2005 12:50 PM

well i duno bout the people not speeding i have been back and forth to school almost 3 times and each time i get onto 295 N or S people are like doing 90...and thats to keep up with the flow of traffic...its insance...but i have seen an over abundence of cops out and about and not in the usual spots...seen at least 4 people pulled over each way each time...GL to everyone in not gettin tickets!!

i wish for once we could get a straight answer out of a cop about tickets: when they write them,
usually 15 over or more...depending the speed limit...aka they'll write at 35 in a 25

when they'll pull someone over,
usually 10 over...but again in a 25 they'll pull ya over around 31-32

ticket quotas (i believe they exist, but they swear up and down that they don't),
there are no "ticket quotas" but cops are "expected" to write a certain number and receive poor performance reviews if they dont meet the "expected" amount

when i become a cop this is exactly what i plan on doing(except everything with a fart-can will get pulled over Â*8)

79CamaroDiva 05-05-2005 07:03 PM

i would imagine that htis has something to do with the summer season coming up, and every college getting out soon. I dont think they'll just be targetting those roads either. Hell, last night on Rt 1 I saw no less than 5 cops that had people pulled over between trenton and new brunswick.. 2 of them were within less than 1/4 mile of each other. Was crazy, but no problems for me :)
