project89 06-04-2006 08:33 PM

project89 06-04-2006 08:34 PM

Windows 95 was roughly 250MB in size ... ur gonna need about 200 floppies ... Windows 3.1 came in like 7 floppies, thats prolly what ur thinking of

enRo 06-04-2006 08:39 PM

Scratch that, I think your right ... but it was just the platform Win95 with no features. I only have the CD version... u might just wanna try WinME

Savage_Messiah 06-04-2006 08:42 PM

Ya know I probably have all those floppies around, I'll look since I have nothing better to do

project89 06-04-2006 08:42 PM

Win 3.1 came on 3 floppies (I have them). Never heard of '95 coming on floppy though - I thought it was CD only.

What flavor/distro of *nix are you running?

I got windows 95 full install on a 100mg zip disk. I used to run the LPT1 parallel port with the dos drivers. worked on my old p75 toshiba which i still used recently to do winaldl.

what in the blue hell did u say? nerds....

justin i used zipslack(slackware) to get a minimal install going. runs on fat/fat 32 parition or native linux pariton.after i got that up and running i just downloaded whatever software pakages i wanted and added them.
zipslack = 40 mb dl,basic linux install no x etc but comes wth every thing u need to get started unzips to about 100 mb
big slack is the same but it more of a full install including x windows etc and takes up roufly 900 mb and also runs on fat/fat32 linux paritions
i used zipslack since i wa slow on hd space and didnt want to chance screwing up my win 95 install making a new parition

i think what your thinkin of dave is the boot disk that cam with 95, they would ship it with a floppy that had the boot files on it so you could still install it even if your cd drive couldnt boot off of the cd

project89 06-05-2006 06:26 PM

no windows 95 did infact come on floppy disk.the early versions.then it got released on cd's with more programs, the floppy install was about 14-17 floppys.

Brando56894 06-05-2006 06:27 PM

damn, that had to be a bitch to install

project89 06-05-2006 06:32 PM

naw i used to have the floppys back when i had my old 486/50 mhz computer years ago, dont remeber it being a bitch to install.wish i could get my hands on another working floppy disk set,
justin whats the chance i could get u to make 3 zip files for me(one for each disk and let me dl them or email them to me.
its been so long but can u even get online with windows 3.1? i know u could install aol on windows 3.1 but thats about all i remeber

Tsar 06-05-2006 06:33 PM
