working on a new site, need some feedback..

Specifically I need someone who knows they are using IE 7 to check this, I already know it works in other browsers, but so far it hasn't worked in my IE but I'm on a mac and IE hasn't been updated in 5 years for mac.

I need to know if the menu works. You're supposed to be able to roll over it and the rest will pop up. It works in FF and Camino and Safari, if anyone with other browsers want to check it out, let me know. Also let me know what you think of the general layout of the site.. No, its not 100% done, thats why its still in a test folder ;)

k well i have IE6, not 7, but it doesnt work in 6...just a white box

79CamaroDiva 02-28-2008 04:24 PM

yeah.. i knew that. thats why i was asking for 7s.. i want to know if i can suggest to update or if i need to redo the whole damn thing because IE sucks.

GP99GT 02-28-2008 04:26 PM

IE does suck, thats why i never upgraded it to 7 :lol:

79CamaroDiva 02-28-2008 04:35 PM

unfortunately, over 3/4 of my customers still use IE :banghead:

Knipps 02-28-2008 04:47 PM

i usually don't even grant IE access to the internet but the only difference i see between it in FF and IE is that the box on the left is white and only changes to purple when it's hovered over

ShitOnWheels 02-28-2008 04:52 PM

Melissa, it sort of works. You cannot see the text inside the menu, but if you roll the mouse over it, you can see the text and the next menu pops up, but again you can't see the text until you roll over each line. I used IE7 to view it.

I was trying to upload a pic myself, but couldn't get it to resize right. This is exactly what I got tho.

Rich189 02-28-2008 05:14 PM

Im using ie 7 as well and get the same white boxes

79CamaroDiva 02-28-2008 05:14 PM

how come microsoft is supposed to be the big giant in the computing world, but their browser cant read code that other browsers can see perfectly fine?

any web junkies have an idea how to fix this? :( pewp.

SteveR 02-28-2008 05:18 PM

for a fast response, you can probably try this, go to your MySpace, click on forums, then computers & technology, then general. That might work. Theres a lot of computer people on there all day long lol

Its easy, just hit the "Print Screen" button, then open up MS Paint and click paste. :D

Yeah I did, but I couldn't get it to upload to the FTP I was using (I use Boon's bbbracing webspace to host most of my stuff). So I tried to do it through this site, but it was too large, and I couldn't get it to just resize the picture versus cropping the picture to the dimensions. I don't have photoshop on my laptop for some reason, otherwise I'd just have used that.

While I have a thread kinda hijacked, and i know what it looks like now, how's the move looking?

ar0ck 02-28-2008 05:54 PM

Chalk up another white box on the left with IE7

79CamaroDiva 02-28-2008 06:03 PM

yeah.. now you can all see that IE completely sucks.. mozilla FTW

WildBillyT 02-28-2008 06:29 PM

What is the background supposed to be?

Some of your URL paths are relative to your individual computer and not a location on your web server.

Right. Like 95% of users use IE. And many will be on 7.

I get what Steve is showing on 7. I have 6 on my work laptop if you need me to try that.

that background is supposed to be the same for the main background, the box background and the menu background. they're all the same gradient. which URLs are you finding are relative to my computer?

Anti_Rice_Guy 02-28-2008 07:47 PM

Menu works fine, except it doesn't lead me to anything. And what is that blank white outlined box thats huge to the right of the menu. Very hard to read the bright yellow on white though.

WildBillyT 02-28-2008 07:47 PM

Example in your style sheet:

background-image: url(file:///Macintosh HD/Users/melissademarcky/Desktop/work/2008 Island Web/images/bg.gif);
overflow: auto;
}
box style {
