They were one of my favs, but... its not GNR... just Axl, unless they miraculously reunited within the past month.

What he said. GNR is not just Axl.

It ain't GNR with out Adler. :)

SteveR 10-22-2008 06:26 PM

Now its whether you like the old GNR, or the last version of GNR with Matt Sorum, and all the other people that made up the GNR orchestra at the end

NastyEllEssWon 10-22-2008 06:59 PM

axle rose is gnr and always will be the heart and soul of gnr. he wrote almost everything on their albums and is talented musically. i like the sound of his voice and his style. its just something that reminds me of growing up.

gnr forever :moon:

Axl may be talented but he is also a world class douchebag. I love the band's stuff from the 80's and 90's but I think I will skip this CD.

Axl is not GnR... without Slash, Adler, etc, Axl is just Axl... Chris Cornell is currently not Soundgarden, and Ozzy Osbourne is currently not Black Sabbath.... same perspective

NastyEllEssWon 10-22-2008 09:28 PM

i dont care if the original lineup comes back man. i have never seen gnr live and i would love to, no matter what incarnation.

Black Sabbath was bigger than Ozzy, beings that Iommi was the musical talent in that band.

Guns N Roses was before Slash, Duff and Adler....making Guns N Roses bigger than a few supporting roles. In your thinking....Ozzy left Sabbath, but Sabbath was still Sabbath without Ozzy....and Ozzy was their front man. Guns n Roses is bigger than the supporting cast.

Axle is to GNR as Iommi is to Black Sabbath.

BonzoHansen 10-22-2008 09:29 PM

Iommi alone is not Sabbath...he proved that in the late 80s.

NastyEllEssWon 10-22-2008 11:25 PM

cant have a Sabbath Without Iommi. you can plug and play geezer and ward. dio wasnt too bad for the band with a few moments of decentness.

id rather listen to gnr than metallica

I saw them when they did the tour with Metallica and Faith No More back in like '93. They were really good, but it was a whole concept, not just one guy. Hopefully he can get a half way decent band together to tour with him.

yeah if he can get some decent players theyll be fine. GnR have a lot of epic songs that i would like to get a chance to see live. i had tickets to the philly debacle...we all saw how that ended up. im just a loyal fan thats trying to stick it out with some hope that this will end up good. at least not st anger bad.

NJSPEEDER 10-23-2008 06:02 AM

That song completely sucks. Sounds like a studio mixed version of every ****** garage band I have heard in my life with some stupid sounds effects added to the opening as a special added bonus.

LS1Hawk 10-23-2008 07:11 AM

Song doesn't really impress me. Having grown up on Guns N' Roses, it just isn't the same. It's pretty obvious that one guy doesn't make the band here. As for a new album, I've heard MANY times a new GnR would be released on such and such a date... I'll believe it when I actually see it on the shelves.

Say what you want about Metallica, but TMK they have never screwed fans like Axl Rose has, like showing up late to shows-if he shows up at all. That guy will never get any $$ from me.

Unless you count when they went after thier fans for downloading thier music off Napster.

BTW, Im with Timmay on this. Id buy St.Anger over this.
Totaly different and akward sound. Not liking it.

BonzoHansen 10-23-2008 09:42 AM

I don't. I have no sympathy for theft anyway. I woud lhave handled it differently though. Axl took concert money then did not appear. Metallica just asked you pay for what you take - no $$ out of fans pockets unless they choose to, and if they did they got someting in return.

Blacdout96 10-23-2008 10:01 AM

Not bad. GNR is my fav band as well. I prefer appetite for destruction tho (who doesn't).

When I was in Taiwan, I went to a fancy Karaoke place there, and they actually had two GNR songs, welcome to the jungle, and paradise city. I sang welcome to the jungle and they went crazy lol.

Scrat's_Camaro 10-23-2008 10:11 AM

He's a flaming turd

ar0ck 10-23-2008 10:13 AM

My grandmother produces better crap then this. Its horrible, incredibly awkward compared to the old stuff. Maybe the knife will slip next time he gets plastic surgery.

Scrat's_Camaro 10-23-2008 10:17 AM

i need to listen to more songs on the cd to make a decision but i dont think it was worth the 13 year wait, but the guitar riff was good. They do however need to cut down the intro on that song, it was too long before you heard any music.

cdacda13 10-23-2008 12:24 PM

Wow, that was pretty bad.
Just goes to show you, rock is dead.

LONG LIVE PAPER!

r0nin89 10-23-2008 03:52 PM

I'm glad I had Aces High paused in the background because I needed to hear something good after that crap. Idk alot of stuff has to grow on me but that didnt sound to good to me.
