my next car...

is gonna be a hyundai. i don't care if you like it or not, this thing is incredible. hit the link and read the specs and option packages. keep in mind that the 4 banger will start around 20k and the V6 around 27k. a guy on teh car lounge knows a guy who had the opportunity to drive the V6 and says they used an M3 as a benchmark for this car and are damn close to hitting their mark. i love it

That thing is bad ass for a Hyundai. I like it.

badzracing 10-31-2008 09:37 PM

he is, when he puts gas in his car to drive to the Hyundai dealer, he pays the station attendants salary, when he gets there and buys the car, he pays a salesman's salary, and a warranty company's salary, and an American bank gets the interest.

when it has problems he pays an American mechanics salary

BigAls87Z28 10-31-2008 10:53 PM

Yet, thanks to currency manipulation and unfair trade aggrements, on top of the lack of propper healthcare programs that the Big 3 have set up for thier union workers, its not helping rebuild America.
Thoes people would be getting paid no matter if they were selling American or Import cars.

98CamaroSS 10-31-2008 11:56 PM

Not for me. :rice: Buy American. :usa:

Savage_Messiah 11-01-2008 01:36 AM

Hyundai's are garbage. This is from personal experiance, my dad has owned a bunch and used to work for them.

genesis > 5th gen

MonmouthCtyAntz 11-01-2008 07:04 AM

wow!

NJSPEEDER 11-01-2008 07:57 AM

The Genesis is a great car, I just wonder if they will be able to convince enough people that a Hyundai is worth that much. Not saying it isn't a nice car, I loe the thing, just that isn't the price or performance image of the company.

When I first heard about the Hyundai going this route I questioned if they could pull off a performance car. It looks like they pulled it off nicely, now it is time to see if the image question becomes a hindrance.

As for the "American Econmy" thing, Hyundai like so many other manufacturers gets all of it's sensors and many other components from GM subsidiaries. The American Economy is fine, people just have to get back to living in it instead of pointing at it like some amazing and mystical thing.

The wife has a 2002 hyundai elantra with 140,000+ miles - she has had it since brand new so she has put all those miles on it.

The car still gets in the 30+ mpg.... has seen as high as 34 mpg.

At first I was skeptical about hyundai..... but the car runs really good.

WAY better than both my GM products.... and they don't even have equal mileage:
96 Pontiac Trans Am 115XXX
97 Pontiac Firebird 90XXX

The hyundai barely has any rattles, has had minor problems (radiator, brakes, thermostat, regualr maintenance etc) Exhaust manifold had a crack in it.... and hyundai replaced it for free and the car had 125,000 miles on it?!?!?!

My experience..... the hyundai has performed better than my gm cars.

I would get another hyundai... and this new one sounds hot

G8 GXP is gunna be awsome. 4 door Camaro...really gunna be a hot one.

I wonder the pricing on the Genny Coupe? Genny sedan starts in mid 30's, and while it comes with much more standard equipment then the coupe, I would think that pricing cant be TOO far off. Id say turbo 4 starting mid 20's, with V6 starting under 30k? Thats SS area.

I wouldnt say that Hyundai's are "awesome", but they have stepped up thier quality rankings big time as they are benchmarking Toyota. But then again, everyone is starting to improve quality by leaps and bounds.
I wouldnt compare a cheap-plastic 4th gen to a 02 Elantra either. Thats like comparing my 04 Malibu to my 93 Caprice.
Hell, compare an 08 Malibu to my 04 as far as quality, ride, comfort, design.
Every generation brings new and better quality.

NJSPEEDER 11-01-2008 04:25 PM

From what went around some of the sites before, the coupe is only supposed to be about 1K more than the sedan.

BigAls87Z28 11-01-2008 05:06 PM

WHAT! If thats the case, this is gunna fall right on its face!! We are talking Camaro SS pricing for a 300hp V6 car!?!?
Camaro still wins in bang for the buck catagory. If it was 200lbs lighter, it would clearly be one of the best. Thank goodness it gets 27mpg.
Wow, I was gunna think that this was gunna be priced in like a cheap 350Z fighter. Apparently they only got half that right.

NJSPEEDER 11-01-2008 05:31 PM

The pricing is the one knock that has been against the car for the most part. I woudl not be surprised to see the car come in for several thousand cheaper than that once Hyundai sees the market and magazine feedback.

Still think it looks like a fun car, something to test drive at least :)

redbanditZ28 11-02-2008 01:18 AM

Hyundais are a good car. I bought my 03 used Accent with 48K miles on it 2 years ago and I haven't had any trouble at all. Gets great gas mileage and the heater and A/C work quick and well. People who think badly about Hyundais need to try the newer ones. I was skeptical myself at first, but after owning one, my next newer car will definitely be a Hyundai. I would assume the parts cost cheaper than Honda and Toyota, and they are getting almost as good as those two in terms of guel economy.

2.0t starting at 20k

3.8 v6 starting at 27k.

curb weight of about 3400 makes for a great power to weight ratio. the camaro better not disappoint on the interior then, cause GM is gonna have a hard time making sales if the Genesis coupe is lighter, cheaper, and better appointed.
