Budweiser American Ale

Anyone try it yet? Its fairly new so my dad picked up a 6-pack last week and I'm finally getting to try one with dinner and its actually not bad at all. I absolutely hate regular Budweiser but this actually tastes decent. I'm not very good at comparing beers but I can already tell you I think its better then Yuengling.

I'm washing down Sausage & peppers. Delicious

sweetbmxrider 11-05-2008 05:18 PM

better then yuengling eh? im a lager man so ill have to check the ale out. i like bud, bud light, no bud light lime though.

NJSPEEDER 11-05-2008 05:25 PM

You should be shot for saying those words.

Wasn't Budwiser sold to a company in Japan? Now they came out with American Ale. Hmmmmmmmm.

I think I'll stick to Microbrews.

with that roster, you shouldnt be saying anything sucks

NJSPEEDER 11-05-2008 06:43 PM

Yuengling Lager is the main staple beer for me. Inexpensive, readily available, and still rather tastey.

If I want to get fancy, I usually move on to the medium sized breweries like Dogfish Head, Brooklyn, and others. A steak and a 90min IPA Dogfish is a good meal in my eyes :)

Like Mike said. I dont think that you have much room to talk about great tasting beer.

Bingo. I am now hooked on Sam Adams Oktoberfest, but Im also loving the Hevienfeaorjlerjlajrr beer that SA has put out.

Right now:
#1: Sam Adams Oktoberfest
#2: Blue Moon
#3: Sam Adams Hefivenfiver whatever it is.
#4: Yuengling
#5: Heiny, but Im usually a mess with that

Summer Ale from SA is also good, but Blue Moon jumps to 1st in the summer. Nice cold one, sitting on the porch of Ron's Pub in a rocking chair with Blair, watching the West End Carshow...awesome.

You have got to be kidding me. That is the most vile **** I've ever tasted and I have a rep for drinking everything short of paint thinner.

Rogue. PA micro beer.

NJSPEEDER 11-05-2008 09:33 PM

Rogue is a pretty good small capacity brewery. Since i tend to think of specialty and micro brews more in terms of being a part of a meal, it isn't something that fits specifically in. The Rogues are more of mood beers than meal beers. Yes, something to sit down and enjoy, but not something that commands a burger, or a steak, or a good pasta.

-Tim = Beer Snob :p

LTb1ow 11-05-2008 09:36 PM

I agree, and I am not sure whether I could down one and eat a meal.

bad64chevelle 11-05-2008 10:00 PM

Yuengling is my usual, along with New Castle on occasion. However I recently had some of the River Horse beers at their oktoberfest...they were amazing. Long Trail is another favorite of mine, blackberry wheat is some great stuff on a hot summer day! I did the Long Trail and Harpoon brewery tours in Vermont this year, and they have some really good stuff.

JL8Jeff 11-07-2008 07:43 AM

I've been drinking Hazed and Infused from Boulder Beer at the MillHill Saloon in Trenton recently and it's pretty dam good. They also got their hands on a couple kegs of Wolaver's Oatmeal Stout and it's really tasty. It's made by Otter Creek in VT. But it's pretty strong around 8% I think.

Untamed 11-07-2008 08:33 AM

Mmm... stout. Definately stout > lager, ale

TurboDiverArt 11-07-2008 08:42 AM

Anyone ever have the beer they brew at JJ Bittings in Woodbridge? They are right next to the Woodbridge train station.

I tried it years ago when they had the NJ Microbrews at the arena in Trenton. There are some good brews made here in NJ. I can't remember their beer though.

They have a few good ones. I usually get their wheat beer with dinner when I'm there.
