Belt Size

LT1, AC delete, GM pulley.

What size belt do I need?

It is NOT a 62, and its smaller than 64....

BonzoHansen 03-16-2009 08:17 PM

AC delete pulley should be the same size as the Ac comp.

LTb1ow 03-16-2009 08:17 PM

You would think, but its not.

sweetbmxrider 03-16-2009 08:29 PM

yeah its rather strange. like i said, napa pulley would retain stock belt size. i'll get back to ya tomorrow

LTb1ow 03-16-2009 08:32 PM

The NAPA pulley had threaded holes, and I didn't feel like going to Home depot so I threw the GM one on. I dunno, I will measure it with a string tmmr. The stock belt fits but its loose as hell.

sweetbmxrider 03-16-2009 08:56 PM

yeah i would imagine so. i noticed that but wasn't sure if the bolts actually threaded into it. well, give me 12 hours and it will probably be the same situation.

LTb1ow 03-16-2009 10:01 PM

Al, can I change belts in the parking lot?

Well, one would say a 63

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 07:38 AM

They come in 1/4 inch increments, and as cool as Al is, I would rather not be going back and from the store twenty times today.

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2009 11:26 AM

waiting on a phone call. Napa has 5/8" and 1 1/8" shorter.

waiting on gm though

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 11:29 AM

I have a 64 on it now, seems to be ok. Not sure how you check for right tension on a serpentine set up though....

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2009 04:30 PM

gm never called back :(

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 04:31 PM

Boo!

98tadriver 03-17-2009 04:48 PM

buy a few belts, try em on, return the unused!

i think theres little dots on the tensioner and something points to them.. i think?

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 04:51 PM

Perhaps?

It feels pretty tight right now, and I drove it around a bit, didn't seem to be slipping or screaming... I dunno?

JL8Jeff 03-17-2009 07:36 PM

I put the LT1 AC delete pulley on my old 68 with the 94 LT1 and I don't remember going to a different size belt.

ar0ck 03-17-2009 08:58 PM

Did you route it right? Just saying because I didn't need a different belt with the AC delete pulley that I added after an under drive that eventually became a Fluiddamper balancer.

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 09:14 PM

Yea, I routed it right, I will try to forget you think I am that dumb....

The stock one fit alright, it just felt mighty loose....

ar0ck 03-17-2009 09:41 PM

Maybe its just a stretched belt.

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 09:42 PM

It could have been, it was a good belt though...

Ah well, the new one is only a 1/3 inch shorter so it should be fine.

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2009 10:18 PM

yeah i'm not sure but the pulley is smaller than the compressor. they did move it though to make up some of the distance. i still think it needs a smaller belt.

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 10:19 PM

Yes, the pulley is only like 3" diameter, and the bracket shifted it outwards to compensate I guess.

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2009 10:36 PM

yeah but i don't think its enough to fit the stocker right, its on your car though you know whats up.

LTb1ow 03-17-2009 10:38 PM

Ya, I got a smaller belt, its all good!
