Took a genisis coupe for a spin

Very nice!

So, while I was at the dealer getting the tranny fluid changedon our 2002 elantra I saw a 2010 Genisis Coupe 2.0 Turbo with an automatic tranny. They also had a 3.8L with a manual tranny.

The 2.0L was Lime Rock Green. It was UBER sexy!

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...52065.1-lg.jpg

I love the lines on the car. I love the fact that it is RWD. Interior was impressively spacious - I felt like I had more room in the genisis up front than our 2002 elantra?!?!?!? Interior was clean and easy to use.

Back seats are like f body's - great for midgets and kids - useless for adults.

The only option it had was the automatic 5 speed tranny. $24,200

Handling was nice - sporty feel but not too aggressive. Rolls on 18's.

He didn't let me floor it - it felt decent for 210 hp and 223 tq. These #'s are for regular gas - running super raises the hp by 15 and tq by 10. Seems like it is running rich so its begging for a tune, higher boost, and open exhaust.

The lines on the car are sexy..... sexy enough to be a replacement of the original SEXINESS?!?!?!?!

I also looked at another elantra gls - stickered for 18,500 - they said I could have it for high 13's. There is $4500 off on left over 2008's.

sweet man. ive always liked the looks of that car and from what you are telling me it sounds like a nice ride.

BurninrubberGT 03-26-2009 03:50 PM

its gonna be my friends next car, its ok, looks too much like a g37

i heard with the track package its pretty nasty performance wise, and its not that much of an option

DevilDougWS6 03-26-2009 04:15 PM

i like the way it looks. dont like that color at all though.

Saitin 03-26-2009 06:19 PM

puke green for the loss now if it was say a navy blue metallic color that would be sexy

69BirdX 03-26-2009 06:52 PM

Personaly i think it looks like the tiburon and its a hyundai. Performance wise it dont looks bad at all for the cost

Blacdout96 03-26-2009 08:29 PM

Lime Rock Green eh? I like it, what other color's they come in?

:werd: I'd like to see it on a dyno. I'd be surprised if it put down 175hp

maroman88 03-27-2009 01:14 AM

i think its guna be a big hit as a chick car.... and the ricers, but thats about it

NJ Torque 03-27-2009 01:43 AM

yea lol if it performs the way they claim, 3rd gens might have something to look out for lol

12secondv6 03-27-2009 07:47 AM

I've come across 2 2.0LT's dynoed already.

One was 197 rwhp and 215 rwtq - the other was 192 rwhp and 210 rwtq. Both cars had very low miles.

They run very rich from the factory and the exhaust is restrictive (several kinks etc identified which would hurt turbo performance)

One recieved a simple ecu tune and picked up 35 rwhp.

I came across a twin turbo v6 version which put down 450ish rwhp

As the aftermarket grows for this car it should be interesting to see how it goes.

Stock - it felt slower than an srt4 neon. I came across a magazine that got 15.0 at 91 out of it - they said they experienced shifting issues which hyundai is working on a patch now.

Sebring Silver, Road America Red, Watkins Glen White, and Pretentious Purple.

Car does look really nice though. Hyundai is really stepping it up.

7998 03-27-2009 09:17 AM

Looks like a Mitsu Eclipse and a G37 mated. I guess its nice if your into that sorta thing.:gheyfigh:
2010 Camaro 304 hp,$23.995 and keep my man card or Hyundai Genesis $24,995 and ...........well you know.
Sorry if that upsets anyone just my opinion.

NastyEllEssWon 03-27-2009 06:31 PM

id rather own a top of the line genesis than a base model camaro.

NJSPEEDER 03-27-2009 06:38 PM

I like the looks of the Genesis coupe. They have a really sharp dark red that they come in. The lime green doesn't really do it for me.

Njgunslinger 03-27-2009 07:19 PM

exactly, why even bother with one of these when you can get a 2010 Camaro with 304hp for the same price...

cause its the difference between a base model from a tanking company and a top of the line model from an uprising company on the cutting edge of design/and interior qualities for the price.

the six banger maros have 300 hp. and a boat load of weight. theyre busting in the quarter at 14.5-15.0.

not impressive by a large margin

Tsar 03-27-2009 07:55 PM

How about.... wait for it.... wait for it.... people like different things!

OMG! THE HUMANITY!!! *runs around*

Santa is not real. :|

Problem is top of the line Genny costs as much as a top of the line Camaro SS.

Cutting edge of design adn interior qualities??? Whoaaaaaa...say what you want, but nothing cutting edge about anything with the Genny coupe. Its a nice car, but there is no "cutting edge" anything.

The V6 Camaro vs V6 Genny put down the same times. There is only a 150lbs difference between the two, and the Camaro is bigger.

While there are different strokes for different folks, facts are facts. A loaded Genny coupe is almost 4 grand MORE then a loaded 2LT RS Camaro yet they post the same times....
Cutting edge my ass. You make your choice off that.
V6 Camaros are running 14.4-14.2 in car rags.

Base Camaro is pretty well equipped.
Hot Rod got a 14.2 with the new V6 Camaro. Never seen a 15sec test anywhere.
Gm isn't going anywhere.
And the minute you start boosting the Hyundai you will break stuff.

Having said that, The Genesis Coupe is a nice car and Its nice to see more Companies embrace RWD. It's just a little effeminate thats all.

:stupid: Damn Al you beat me to it.
Oh and copying a G37 is far from cutting edge, and materials..........Please, your kidding right. I was comparing it to the new Camaro not a 4th Gen.

BigAls87Z28 03-27-2009 08:19 PM

The only benifit the Genny coupe 2.0T has is that it IS the same motor as the one in the Evo X.
