Friend down

Today in my auto class we had a little accident. My friend was takeing his trans out to replace the main seal in his jeep. We had gotten it out and on the stand, after getting it out and it was sitting on the stand i had walked away. I figured he was done for now. I had walked into the other bay to finish the breaks on the car i was working on. As i turned around i saw him takeing the trans off the stand. I started walking over quickly and as i did the tranny fluid went on the floor where the "quick dry" was not. His foot slided on the floor and fell. The tranny came down on his wrist. There was so much blood. It was not like dripping. It was some **** out of the movies, it was squirting out. My shop teacher quicky grabbed a rag and put it over the gash and grabbed tight to cut the vains off and stop the blood. They called 911 and the nurse. Lucky my teacher brought him to the EMT room down the hall while waiting the paramedics came. The nurse took 7 whole min to walk her *** down to the room. The paramedics came before the nurse walked down to our shop.

Was kind of scary when seeing so much blood everywhere. i don't have many pictures. but the one of his wrist he had sent me when in the hospital after the cut was cleaned. only got 1 picture of a small section of the trail of blood left behind. The other picture you can see the tranny fluid around the trans. Not all of it is trany fluid.

And also there was not that much fluid on the floor when this happend. that was after some more leaked out and mixed with some blood to. it was only a small area when he fell.

i'm sure this happens alot but i've never seen something like this happen before in shop

I had pretty much the same cut, but a hellova lot deeper, and about 6 inches longer. And I hear ya on the amount of blood that can be lost... when I had my accident, I lost so much blood that my heart rate dipped into mid 20's - low 30's. I can't really tell from the pic, but did he have any tendon or nerve damage?

BigRocsFirebird 12-10-2009 09:18 PM

Those freakin crickets man!!! i wanted to shoot myself in the head. the first 2 months there had to be at least 800 of those little mother ******* jumping around. now they are all gone

i didn't get to talk to him to much. i will find out more tonight or tomorrow. i would think he'd have some tendon damage due to the fact it's almost a inch deep. and an hour after it had happend he started to get some feeling in his fingers

He is a lucky guy. That's a dangerous spot to get a cut.

I am at work and don't have the control on my iPod like I would my pc. Plus it was too late cause I seen it before I could edit.

BigRocsFirebird 12-11-2009 03:13 PM

If i was not in school i would have added a link but WBT already fixed it, thank you Bill. But i keep pictureing in my head was the blood shooting out and seeing his bone and cut tendons. Horrible sight not to mention going back and working on his jeep today was not easy.
