Today is a day of fail.

Well I'm still at my regular job, because everything failed today.
Our server's hard drive that suppose to be fail proof, failed and its only 6 months old.
The copier failed and still has to be fixed.
The phone system is dropping phone calls, so I still got to figure that out.
The company's website failed (Which is hosted by another provider) but at least i fixed that earlier today.
So looks like no sleep tonight.

I can't forget to mention my websites have been unreliable the past few months, so i tired switching hosting providers and have nothing but problems with the switch over.

look into known host.. thats who this site uses and i use it for the tracks site. phenomenal tech support and almost no down time.

We use Rackspace, Hosting.com (used to be HostMySite) and Mosso. All have been good.

:stupid:

Knownhost has been wonderful to us.

And what's this about a fail-proof hdd? Such a thing does not exist.

Yeah it was a RAID the $10,000 Apple RAID system.
Nothing but problems with it. But the CEO insists that apple products are simply the best.

Just one of those days...

Tru2Chevy 02-08-2010 09:32 PM

Ugh.....apple has no place in the server market.

My apologies for assuming single HDD - just seemed that way from how I read the first post.

We use DDN disk here at work with very few problems.

Tell me about it. It's the worst to try to maintain. It does things on its own, update never work right and support is 10k per year, which the CEO won't pay for.

apple != server. Go buy a 500 dollar raid card + some server grade seagates = end of story.

We got the server grade hard drives in the apple RAID system. It's impossible to get the CEO to think that anything else works besides an apple server/ RAID system. The Software has way too many bugs in it.

Firebird92 02-08-2010 11:09 PM

Apple was good back in the days where they used SCSI for every thing like with the G5 o man them where some good MACs

but what raid are you running my job ran 5 then went to 6 then to raid 1+0 my boss reads a PC mag and we have to change the whole company in a day -.- now we running windows 7 clients with a windows server 2003 domain window 7 always trys to connect to other 7 clients -.- and share stuff what a pain -.-

Untamed 02-09-2010 10:22 AM

me neither. I'm more of a bacon guy myself so the baconator at Wendy's or Five Guys is much more preferable :)

Frosty 02-09-2010 03:14 PM

Five Guys FTW!
