ZL1 Camaro official HP n spec's

I don't think it's a repost..... and where was Al on this???

http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/ima..._album_-_2.jpg

SAE certified power at 580hp @ 6,000 RPM and torque is 556ft-lbs @ 4,200 RPM

Power to weight is 7.24 pounds per horsepower

It will run the next-generation magnetic suspension that GM has been using for years, a generation ahead of the CTS-V and ZR1

The car will be track-ready right from the dealership, with all necessary transmission, diff and brake-cooling systems installed at the plant

The Camaro ZL1 will be fitted with huge Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, P285/35ZR20 front, P305/35ZR20

I'm not a camaro fan..... but this will be a very fun car!

BigAls87Z28 09-09-2011 09:03 PM

Should be a hell of a car.

zraffz 09-09-2011 09:13 PM

Saw the ZL1 at the Javits Center a few months back. First time I ever sat in a 5th gen was there, a new SS. Was extremely disappointed in all the blind spots and how I sat in the seat.

ZL1 appears pretty B/A though:

More info on the car here. 5 modes for the suspension and transmission, with the highest being set for "VHT-prepped tracks"

coolmanvette75 09-09-2011 09:53 PM

I read the press release. I like suspension mode number 5 :)

Slow-V6 09-10-2011 09:24 AM

Yeah no thanks.. The car still doesnt look that good! It makes amazing power.

Oops, my bad - I didn't mean it that way - i e money.

I look at the "average joe" as someone like one of my brothers - he can barely handle the raw horsepower of his Prius.

Most drivers cannot handle the raw power/ handling of this beast.... so they shouldn't get it. They will kill either themselves or someone innocent.

I agree on this statement. Does money equal driving prowess? No, but there is a better chance that he/she with more money will be able to drive it.

The original ZL1 was more than twice the price of a regular V8 sports coupe. This will be a bit more attainable.

LS1ow 09-11-2011 01:49 PM

needs T-tops.

Yeah that's what I kinda thought you meant. Its just out of range for the average person but a true enthusiast will do whatever necessary to purchase one :)

You're right, let's base it all off one story of an 18 year old that has more money than brains? Good idea, why didn't I think of that........

On average, people with money are a better driver then people with less money.

sweetbmxrider 09-13-2011 07:23 AM

Could you seriously bring up some facts on that? I see PLENTY of expensive cars......totaled. I just can't fathom how wealth has any relation to skill.

maroman88 09-13-2011 07:37 AM

the wealthy can afford to go to fancy fast car driving schools! lol which should be required when they purchase most cars

I would like to see stats for this as well. Age I can easily see, wealth, not as much.

88WS-6 09-13-2011 09:09 AM

Damn I must be a ****** driver then. I have like $50 in my savings account.

BurninrubberGT 09-13-2011 09:19 AM

if everyone chips in on this forum, maybe we could get one

Yeah, I can see maturity playing into it too. Not that it is measurable but definitely can be seen.
