It's easy to understand. But without him even getting that info you stated you wouldn't pay 3 times the base price. Meaning you wouldn't pay 225 dollars.

All I was saying was that without a bulk order chrome or black chrome or whatever, it will probably be more than that.

Since you were a dick I'll be one too

What's so hard to understand about that?

I can maybe call around to find out about this chroming but honestly I've never had it done on anything and have no idea about what it may cost. I dont think it would be an option because it will probably raise the price considerably. If you wanted to have it chromed and then send it to me that may be a better idea.

Also if anybody wants to put a deposit or pay in full or just donate to my medical bills :) my paypal is nj85z28@hotmail.com just giving the option. I'll be working on these some more tonight now that i have a bunch more cams to play with.

I know my dad has several old camshafts(original Lt1 and up and crankshafts) that are pitted and can't be used any more. When I get more information about them I'll see what's up. He has a very large collection of parts lying around he is looking to get rid out.
If you are looking for old parts to turn around, let me know what you're looking for. I know he is looking to get rid of some of the parts he has.

Just gave my deposit to Steve. :)

WildBillyT 08-17-2012 01:20 PM

Steve,

One of the cams I sent you has a part number of 3863144. If you can set that one aside, I'll buy a lamp made from it. Also, if you want me to share this with the guys over on the Nova site I will do so.

Yes I will do that for you no problem.

I plan on making alot of these things so spread the word if you like and they can contact me here or my email (nj85z28@hotmail.com also is my paypal address).

I want to make ford and dodge ones too for those guys if theres interest. Right now im sticking to the chevys until this group buy is finished.

I showed you the pics of them all cleaned up right? I gotta post them as before/after. I just finished drilling one out about a half hour ago. Just so everyone knows im not doing some cheapo crap by taping or zip tieing the wiring down the back like the ones ive seen on other sites and fleabay. im doing it the right way. the LS1 cams are much easier because they're hollow already!!

Another update I got a sprocket from blackbirdws6 today while i was working at his house and i got the black lacquer and all the parts for the black ones including the shade so once i give the sprocket a good polishing on the buffing wheels and clean the whole thing up and assemble it after making the base I'll have some photos up. I've been waiting on the sprocket.

Also I found a guy on fleabay with LS1 sprockets for $10 and he has more than 10. Im waiting to find out if he will combine shipping on them and then I'm going to buy them all. I have a few LS1 cams coming in the mail tuesday from florida. some guy on tech gave me a great deal on them.

If you happen to see an LS cam for a good price (i would say $30 is the MAX, but FREE is better ;) ) Please pick them up for my little project.

Would you do a crank? I'd be pretty interested but don't know how much that sumbitch would weigh

how much would i get for making the lamp? i dont think it would be much more than the camshaft. thats if i can drill it out and how much cleaning i need to do on it. just make sure its not forged. i went through wildbillys camshafts pretty easily

nj85z28 08-17-2012 06:20 PM

Also dont forget guys it would really help me out if I got a few deposits. I'm only asking $20 for the deposit. Just because I need to buy materials of course.

If you want to wait a day or two to see the black one with the sprocket I understand. I think everyone is waiting for that.

its nj85z28@hotmail.com for paypal or you can send me a check or cash if you want. just PM for the address.

thanks!

MyFirstZ 08-18-2012 09:39 AM

Il send a deposit in a few weeks after I get mine cleane, prepped and pay off vacation

2kblackgtp 08-18-2012 10:19 AM

Would you be willing to do a black base with white shade? I was going to build a few of these for myself before I saw you were making them, and it's for a very good cause. Cobra sucks. I'd want 2 of them

Sure thing! I'll put you on the list for two. That no problem with the white shade/black base. I found alot of different options for the shades I'll post up later in case anyone else wants to mix/match.

would need to see the black first :D

nj85z28 08-20-2012 07:28 AM

;)

We spent some time this weekend drilling these sbc cams from WildBillyT and making the bases. The new bases are bigger around to accommodate the sprocket gear.

Also a few minor changes from the first one I built, for the black bases, I also have a black lamp socket with a black pullchain as opposed to the original which i used a push button type socket.

Here is a quick shot of one of the black bases. this one is made from pine, it has 3 coats of sealer and about 5 of black lacquer. I want it to dry for a full 24 hours before assembly but the rest of it is ready to go. In this photo it is not finished yet, it still needs a final buffing, so you may notice some imperfections. But it is so shiny and deep you can see your reflection in it. Ill have the assembled photos later tonight.

Crossing fingers to see mine with the sprocket tonight :)

WildBillyT 08-20-2012 10:13 AM

I'd go with walnut. Are you clear coating them after cleaning up the lobes?

I was thinking about doing it.. but havent yet no. I'm undecided. I might try it out and see how it looks.

Blackbird i have the base just drying and need to buff it up and give the cam a final polish and assembly.

I got some more LS cams today ( a day earlier than expected ) so i have my work cut out for me.
