The restrictions are just on soft top cars, your t-tops are in a solid frame, so you are good.

Stupid Qustion # 2..

Is this an oval track or a road course track???

I am definitely interested in either :)

I might drag my Bro and his 2001 Cobra in for fun.

Like I keep telling him...........ponies are for LiL girls........:)

JSPERFORMANCE 01-08-2009 07:44 AM

As long as there are some good straight aways I should be OK. I have no problem using the grass and killing some cones.

NJMSP In-car video link

The link below is for anyone interested in getting an idea about the track configuration of the Lightning Circuit at NJMSP. It is an in-car track day video of a stock Miata. Notice that the car carries both a driver and instructor and still manages a good bit of speed and momentum. Considering the limited power of the stock Miata, this is a respectable lap.

sweetbmxrider 01-11-2009 10:36 AM

oh damn, thanks for the video. that miata was definitely holding its own. i'm getting excited!

LTb1ow 01-11-2009 01:11 PM

Mario cart!

Mike 01-11-2009 01:42 PM

you mean stock miata with a roll cage? or are other people more special than us

NJSPEEDER 01-11-2009 02:25 PM

Miatas also have a bolt on hardtop available. So the car could have either a roll bar or the hard top and be legal to run.

Lightning Raceway
The 1.9 mile Northern Circuit will be known as Lightning, this 10 corner circuit will be fast and challenging featuring some of the most interesting and dramatic corners and elevation changes in the park. The 20 acre paddock area will have a 4 acre skid pad and autocross area, as well as concession areas, timing towers and school and drivers meeting room facilities.

If I can get the day off count me in so put me down for 80% sure, although I will probably want to test out the Subaru....

Kat 01-14-2009 08:25 PM

Now for verts does it need to be a 4 point bar or 6 point?

EchoMirage 01-15-2009 03:45 PM

probably just a 2pt rollbar. not a full cage

I'd do some homework. Never heard of or seen a 2pt rollbar? Does such a thing exist? That's a hoop with with no front/rear struts? Probably meant 3pt?

NJSPEEDER 01-16-2009 01:34 PM

I am finding out abut the roll bar requirements.

PolarBear 01-16-2009 04:52 PM

What about tech requirements?

NJSPEEDER 01-16-2009 05:18 PM

I just talked to the company that we are doing this with and they are going back and forth with all of the paperwork and such with the track still.

Once the date and the insurance and everything else is locked in we will be able to post all of the technical requirements for the event.

lifbaprez 01-16-2009 07:16 PM

Cool Tim....Thanks for doing this

2 point would be what the old cobras have....and the miatas........i doubt they have anything like that for a 4 seat car

Pretty sure Cobras had 3pts....

http://www.autabuy.com/ViewPhoto/?I=...%20COBRA%20427

I don't know what miata's had and if you are going to put a bar into a car, then you might as well install a bar that has at least 3pts, preferably 4 or more.

OK, got some clarifications.

Verts will need a roll bar. I am going to get the specifics and post them up.

Truck and SUV owners, sorry but we won't be able to allow them.

Correct me if I am wrong because I would like to come....
I can run a Lightning @180+ mph during an open road race or run at other road courses, but I can not @ NJMP where it will out handle/run 80% of the other cars?

PolarBear 01-22-2009 04:08 PM

I doubt it will out handle the cars coming to our session but yeah you cant bring trucks or SUV's
