No Signal for Starter

Figured more eyes = moar better.

Long story short, there is nothing to signal the starter relay when the key is turned. I was able to jump the relay using a wire to get the car started. Swapped the starter relay with a known good relay and still no dice. This leads me to believe there is an issue with the wiring of my 6 pin gear selector switch, or maybe another wiring issue all together.

There is power at the 85 and 30 pin of the relay, 87 goes to the starter, 86 goes to the BCM, which is the ground.

So what it looks like, to me atleast, the key isnt grounding out the relay. Thus no complete circuit.

However if were to ground out the 86 pin, would that render it on at all times?

I don't know about the later cars, but in the late 3rd gens the VATS module told the computer to pulse the injectors, and it also grounded the the starter relay, so if the later cars are similar, that could be your problem. I can look in my service manual when I get home to verify, but that sounds like what your issue is. I have a service manual for a 99 F-body.
If you don't care about security, I would just ground the relay at that pin and be done with it.
Pin 85 would be power for the relay, and 30 would be power for the starter solenoid, so 85 should only be powered when you're cranking

So if I do ground 86 it won’t run constantly, it will just run when cranking? I’m fine with lack of security, I was just afraid that having it grounded would mean constant power to it, not only power while crank

If it has power to 85 when you're not cranking and you ground the relay it will be enabled the whole time. The VATS/BCM whatever, is grounding that pin at all times when the VATS is disabled though. So Security enabled=pin floating, Security disabled= pin grounded

Im going to try 1 more thing before a push button start gets delivered from napa

An old HVAC saying.... when in doubt jump it out.... Push Button = Racecar. Pretty sure all the cars in fast & furious are push button start.

Really dude? You think I'd tell you to ground it out and leave you with a starter spinning always?

The hot is not constant, it comes from the ignition switch. Shove a wire in the terminal and put the relay in over it, ground the other side, see what happens, never doubt me again

I didnt know if it would run at all times ! if the relay only got power while crank it would be fine. Now that i know its constant, i know i cant do it.

I said not constant. I may have said it the other way in your thread. Just double check it later but you should be good.

Get this one. The other buttons are start only. This has a start and the very important stop button. No way this can get screwed up!

As long as your car is faster than a riding lawn mower, who cares?
