Better then Stock?
I believe my Mid speakers in my Bose equiped 95 took a dump on me over the weekend. Im not crazy about stereo stuff, and I thought the stock system did an excellent job. What are some options on brands and price ranges that I should be looking at? I dont want to get crazy and the bang for buck factor is very very important here. I'll probably be ordering from crutchfield, but Best Buy works as well.

Crutchfield is overly expensive. Use them to browse, never to order.

soundstream is the way to go if your only replacing speakers. i can explain why this is so but its too long for me too write right now at 2am

i recommend Kenwood for a good quality and not overly expensive set of speakers. and as justin said...DO NOT ORDER FROM CRUTCHFIELD! you get F'd in the A. |
onlinecarstereo.com has some great prices on all ur audio needs
|
there used to be a place called www.thezeb.com but i dont think there around any more i got all of my stereo stuff there at less then half price!!! and they where right in NC.
|
www.etronics.com rules, if they have what youre looking for. theyre right in NY so it ships in like 2 days on anything

3 ohm might also be overloading the amp...but maybe not.
i have a soundstream amp, powering 2 12" dual voice coil pioneers at 2 ohms...its...loud. lol |

Just checking, but isnt the Bose system self amplified speakers? Does that make a difference?

and alex, its either bose or monsoon that has the individual amps, but that shouldnt matter. BUT, it is possible that you blew up the amp and it isnt the speaker thats bad, which you could test by hooking those speakers up to a different amp/speaker lead |
my stock system was disconnected after i had the car 3 months, so i never dealt with a stock monsoon system, but a monsoon has one amp right by the rear passenger wheelwell. the 80s-90s vette had the bose with the individual amps and those suck if soemthign goes bad.
|
so whats the deal alex?
|
I believe the bose system has individual amps for the speakers, I would pull one out and investigate, before I bought anything. I don't have the bose, just what I was told. Good luck.

go wit pioneer i got 4 ways all around n 2 rockfords out bak n they sound awsome

Alex I may have some speakers for you, out of my Iroc. I am not sure of the brand but they're aftermarket. you wanna take them off my hand??? for free

Going to the trucks tonight Boon?

BOSE can be a PITA b/c all the speakers are powered individually and if you wanted to put a regular head unit with new speakers, you basically have to run new wires. This is why when I ordered my '95 back in the fall of '94 I didn't even get a CD player from the factory b/c I already had plans on replacing everything...
Anyway... Here's what I'm running in the Z's... http://home.comcast.net/~coolcamaroz...0/site1010.jpg |
Go on to Ebay and find the Infinity Kappa's. 6.5. I have those in mine, you will not be dissapointed.
|
You can integrate the HU in many different ways......several use the Alpine's as replacements for install purposes (easier integration) Check this website out!
