Spec vs. Center Force clutch?
Okay,
So I've narrowed it down to either a Spec clutch (just a stage I, as I'm not really planning on putting anything on my car to make it much faster), or a Center Force clutch. Votes por favor... EDIT: Okay, adding McLeod and possibly an SLP clutch too... thoughts? |
McLeod single disc if you're an LT1 car. I don't trust either of those.

I have a Center Force Dual Friction Clutch. It is a very streetable clutch. Smooth engagement but bites hard when you want it to.

i have the SPEC clutch, stage 3 though, i like it alot, but i need to replace it soon. i got about 45k miles out of it, and most of those were hard miles so i can't complain, after all, its a segmented racing clutch and not really desigened to last as long as a stock one. But i'd recommened the SPEC for a ls1, my new clutch will be a SPEC stage 4 or 5.

I've never really heard many good things about the Centerforce, I remember reading an article in one of the magazines about 4 years ago about the clutch choices and how they measured up...SPEC was king if I recall....Something about the spacing between the flywheel and clutch disc, most companies weren't making it right, and SPEC was the way to go....Not remembering exactly though, so don't take my word for it...I am planning on the SPEC stage 3 next month when my tranny goes in for some warranty work...
Talk to you later Dave |
spec 3 is the way I went and after its finally been broken in I really like it. Chatter is gone and it bites hard. Dont know about the others but I'm happy with mine. good luck
