I have plans....

ThoR294 04-17-2019 07:23 PM

Since the $500 subaru is fixed... my spot in the garage is back open, and the bird is getting love again.

Measured distance between the tailshaft housing and rear. 44.5" inches. Called PST and they set me up with a driveshaft.

Going to remove my Y-pipe and order the kooks catted y-pipe from WS6 store too. maybe I can finally daily drive this thing!

In with the new!

Vibration is much less. Still feel it on decel, probably from stupid ass y-pipe. Jersey Mike has a TSP Y he is willing to part with so ill try that first

ThoR294 09-13-2019 07:10 AM

Not much has been done. Replaced belt tensioner since it was squealing a bit. fresh inspection. oil change... Y pipe sitting in garage gotta install it, i really hope it fixes the vibration.

ThoR294 10-10-2019 09:15 AM

Car is currently at ProFab Chassis investigating the dreaded vibration. They noticed the motor mounts were shot, and that the exhaust is pretty much on the k member lol. They also said the panhard wasn't adjusted properly. They are going to do mounts, replace Y-pipe (merge sucks so i want a different one anyway), and center rear, then go from there.

BonzoHansen 10-10-2019 09:20 AM

motor mounts and fix the exhaust you say? hmm......

LS1ow 10-10-2019 09:21 AM

so if its fixed your racing it, right?

So if I say that you're probably in the 14s, I think you need to prove me wrong. :bertstare:

doubtful

ThoR294 10-10-2019 03:44 PM

as per them:

replaced motor mounts, so exhaust no longer hits car anywhere.
adjusted y pipe since engine is now in proper place
replaced rear pinion seal since it was puking
adjusted panhard properly since it was not centered
replaced rear fluid since a bunch of metal came out (this will be 3rd drain and fill in like 550miles since rebuild)

vibration still there 100%

Steering shaft is now hitting headers really bad. Going to put LS1 steering shaft in. Also going to call Corbos (who rebuilt rear) and tell them what's going on. Not sure if I mentioned earlier, but they left pinion loose. I think they ****ed rear, but I have a feeling thats still not my vibration. i ****ing give up

LTb1ow 10-10-2019 05:42 PM

I can't say much cause I have had my bone headed moments, BUT... you have been chasing vibration issues and never mentioned or looked into shot motor mounts causing headers to hit floor boards?

I had them in back of mind but it was happening over 70 so I ignored engine side. So they were bad but my problem still exists

I'm really thinking it's in the transmission. Only thing that isn't new

Your rear is ****ed. You failed to mention all this.

Vibration was there before and after rear rebuild. $100 says it'll still vibrate after rear is fixed.

Have to see what happens with shop that did the rebuild.

Can you give a little summary with the description of the vibration and where it is felt, followed by what has been done? It gets hard to follow in long threads

Over 70mph with clutch pedal in and or car in neutral. I've replaced everything transmission and back. Literally. The only thing that I didn't replace new was the transmission. I swapped with a used one.

Vibration slightly noticable in gear on decel. Pretty much non existent when throttle is pushed in gear
