A ride? No! You cant give or take rides down the track. You would have to drive it! I might have to put a 2x4 under the pedal so you cant go full throttle!

Sprayed 99 06-13-2010 06:50 PM

sweet build!! keep us posted on your progress

mc73nova 06-14-2010 05:36 PM

We really havent had much time to work on it but if all goes well the bottom end will be together this week and then we can order some push rods.

I got out of work yesterday @ 5:30 and started assembling the engine with my brother. After a couple speed bumps, it is finally together and I just got home @ 7 AM this morning! We will be dynoing it today, so I will have some numbers by tonight as long as everything goes smooth.

BigRocsFirebird 10-26-2010 08:50 AM

i was just thinking about this the other day, post those #s up!! well when she is dynoed

sweetbmxrider 10-26-2010 09:46 AM

can't wait to see what it does

mc73nova 10-26-2010 05:45 PM

Here are the baseline numbers.

634HP/553TQ

We had a few things slow us down so we didnt get many pulls in. So, we'll be going back tomorrow to tune.

To do list:
-Jet carb, its really rich right now.
-Try spacers, we have the carb sitting on the intake right now, we are gonna try a few combos.
-Possibly change the rockers on the exhaust side.
-Try different size headers.
-Timing.
-Adjust valve lash.
-Possibly try a different carb.

It was a good day overall. I was hoping for higher numbers to start but the goal is still within reach, we have a lot of options as far as tuning goes.

I'll post new numbers tomorrow night around the same time.

sweetbmxrider 10-26-2010 07:41 PM

its amazing how much you can pick up by a couple small changes. engine dynos are quite handy :)

mc73nova 10-27-2010 07:54 PM

New numbers 674HP/567TQ

Still had more in it, we don't like the rocker set up. I tried to get away with what I had but it desperately needs a Jesel set up. Too much deflection, we are losing lift. I'll be selling some parts to pay for the Jesel, so if you are looking for some SBC top end parts, just ask me.

Very neat build, just curious if you are using an engine dyno or chassis dyno? Didn't catch if the motor was in the car or not.

89firebird 10-30-2010 11:32 AM

nice build deff would like to watch that thing make a run down the track.

crzyj1 10-30-2010 11:38 AM

let us know when you run it

Thanks, we used an engine dyno. Its not in the car yet, I want to put the Jesel on it first. Congrats on your new record.
