outside of trying to save up for an engagement ring i decieded to start another project. converting a 02 sebring silver ss camaro to a lt1 front. here is my progress. sorry to those who like the 98-02 fronts but imo the lt1 front looks mean as hell, to bad those years didnt get the ls1. Still looking for that lt1 SS hood and those wingswest ground effects, if anyone knows of someone selling these parts let them know, i'm looking.

zraffz 04-24-2012 10:14 PM

Awesome! Not only does the LT1 look meaner but you're creating a wolf in sheep's clothing!

usp55 04-26-2012 03:03 PM

NICE!
thats how the swap should be- LS1 to LT1 front end. That WW kit is hard to find these days though

coolmanvette75 04-26-2012 03:12 PM

If you need help making the lid fit under the hood, pm LS1ow. He did it a few months ago. Good luck tho. IMO lt1s look meaner...

LS1ow 04-26-2012 05:57 PM

i did the same thing to my 01 Z when i got hit last year.

everything bolts up just as it should, however you will NOT fit the stock air intake set up under the hood. i think if you run the SS hood with the a real functioning ram air set up youll clear, if not... ill come down and cut a hole in your hood, draw a rage comic, and turn you into an internet celeb.

Thanks guys, as I really get into this project and any questions or problems I will post them and or pm them. My thoughts on that air lid was completely getting rid of it and making something from scratch to connect to possibly slp's cold air intake.

First question on this project will the wiring from the lights on 02'the plug into the lights on lt1 front, or do I have to cut the wires from lt1 and splice them to the wiring on ls1

LS1ow 04-29-2012 12:28 AM

SilverDropTop 05-01-2012 02:38 PM

I'm doing the same swap on a 98Z. Good luck with yours.

NjbadSS 05-01-2012 06:07 PM

Cool swap, I am personally a big fan of the lt1 front end over the ls1. Good luck with everything

Interesting. From LT1 to LS1 on the Pontiacs the plugs for the flip up headlights were different.

thanks again everyone, I bought the flat z-28 spoiler from my buddy at my pd. I plan on mounting another 5'' lip spoiler onto this spoiler to match the setup I have on my 97' Z. I feel the taller spoiler gives the rear of the car a more aggressive look. I hope to find the 96-97' SS hood at the swap meet this weekend. I bought the one I have on my 97' Z there from fiber customs 3 years ago. then all i will need to find is the ground effects I'm looking for.

bigz28man 05-02-2012 02:54 PM

Nice wing....they give the rear of the car a nice tasteful aggressive look. Yours is much like the one I have on my 97' Z. I plan to put it on the 02' as well.

greenformula92 05-03-2012 07:33 AM

LS1ow...car looks good. The wing looks like it fits pretty good. It's look good on your car but i don't think thats something every car would look good with

Not my car nor my photo but this is exactly what I plan on doing. Now that I have my SS hood I have this photo to go off of

LS1ow 05-09-2012 06:31 AM

that'll work, but why not use the ram air on the SS hood ?

Its been shown to make less Hp than a simple CAI.

I like how they kept the v6 STB, crosses over closer to the cowl and just looks cleaner
