Replace Stock LS6 Valves?
I picked up a set of stock 243 heads, and I was disassembling/cleaning them to go on my car. They came off a newer avalanche with ~45k miles, so they have the heavier valves which have normal corrosion build up on them.
Is it worth replacing the valves or going with something lighter while I have everything disassembled? Where's a good place to find replacement or performance valves for stock heads? |
I haven't found 243 heads w/ LS6 hollow valves on any engines other than Vette LS6 models yet, are you sure your Avalanche valves are the hollow ones?

We can get you Manley stainless steel valves they are $130.00 per set of 8.
Also if you want any port work to be done on them I could have them sent out to Ed Curtis to have it done. |

Devin, could you send me some more info on the porting that Ed offers? Like what exactly he covers in porting (valve job, bigger valves?, cnc or hand porting, price...). Im running his streetsweeper HT cam and it would be cool to have the heads ported to match the cam's strengths. |
Dont wast your time changing them. do a valve job and put them back toghter. If your intristed i could have TEA do some CNC port work. $995.00 Using customer supplied Ls-6 castings flows over 310 CFM !!!!

Any suggestions for local NJ shops that do angle or radius valve jobs? I didnt plan to have these worked but I guess it would be nice to at least get a valve job and decked.
