Rad Caps

General n00b question, but is there a option above the pep boys special for these things? For some reason my car likes to kill them. :bertstare:

LS1ow 11-07-2016 05:23 PM

Moroso makes them.

WildBillyT 11-07-2016 06:03 PM

Stant being a Pep Boys special?

LTb1ow 11-07-2016 06:15 PM

Yes, I had gotten one to replace a shot stocker and no less than two years later its leaking.

Junkyard original

So to bump this up, yet again car is leaking from between rad neck seal face and rad cap.

Overflow is not blocked and hose is not kinked.

Any ideas on why these things die so fast?

KirkEvil 03-05-2018 07:53 PM

lower pressure rating than stock?

LTb1ow 03-05-2018 07:57 PM

Nope, stock 18psi cap

Just gonna replace the rad and cap on Weds I think

KirkEvil 03-05-2018 07:58 PM

time for a vertical griffin rad

Blackbirdws6 03-05-2018 08:24 PM

Very strange. Still using oem cap.

MDSheds_SS 03-05-2018 08:26 PM

I’m on my 3rd one as well, exactly the same issue. I actually have a spare in the car now. Running the 18psi Delco one from Amazon.

ThoR294 03-09-2018 06:19 AM

Try for a true delco one. Amazon looks like they are throwing motorad ones in delco boxes. Try rockauto or ebay

LTb1ow 03-09-2018 05:08 PM

Got new radiator, new hoses, and a new cap installed.

RIP 1995 OEM rad

Lol it's always crazy how radiators can look so damaged but not leak and still cool adequately

wretched73 03-11-2018 12:23 PM

What's the inside of that thing look like?
