What was the reasoning PayPal cited for awarding you $500?

"because"

I gave them the run down on how his name wasn't on the title, he falsely gave me information on the car, etc. I don't remember the full conversation but I think fraud came up somewhere lol. I had to dispute from my bank's side. First, PayPal rejected my dispute (before this conversation), then I called PayPal, gave them the story, and they said have my bank resubmit it. After that, I got it back.

I am 99% sure the seller is now out $500. Surprised he hasn't said anything to me.

So they said "yeah, that's shady. Obviously something sketchy with this car/seller. Here's $500 of your money back, you're SOL on the remaining $1,700"

Is $500 a standard number?
Did eBay play any part in the resolution?
Was this all arbitrary?

*edit*
glad you're making lemonade though

Ah. No the $500 was my deposit I put down.

eBay did nothing. They even deleted my negative feedback on his account because I said he was a scammer lol. I called back and they sad they cant do anything about that.

and yeah that is how I see it. Imagine if someone who had no car fixing skills got the car. They'd need to sink a lot of $$$$$$ into it.

ThoR294 05-18-2017 10:38 AM

LOL the scumbag I bought the car from put in an offer of $1600 on my ad on eBay. I replied back saying "Thanks for the offer, but I'll take $3200".

****ing POS
