alpine type r speaker issue in fbody?

does anyone have alpine type r speakers in their fbody? if so were there clearance issues? I called crutchfield and the seller said they will have clearance issues in the doors hitting the window glass but I've never heard of that problem with any speakers. he was trying to upsell so I'm thinking he was saying that to get me to buy something more expensive to help his commission...

Crutchfield usually has guides on their website for mounting depth on your car for each speaker. Compare that to the mounted depth of the speakers in question and go from there.

theres a lot of room between the glass and the back of the speaker.

side question, do you have the monsoon system ?

I think Camaro's only got Bose systems, Tim.

I don't think the glass even drops that far?? I've never had an issue.

No, monsoon was available for both from '97-'02. The Camaro RPO code is UZ7.

Not sure about differences in doors but I have Type R's in my Camaro and I had no problems at all. They are excellent speakers and Im sure you will love them

i ended up installing them today. no clearance issues, and no wire harness issues. plugged right up lol.

i am loving them so far though there is such a different over stock.

deadtrend1 03-27-2011 01:25 PM

Any two way is a improvment over the paper stock ones

madness410 03-27-2011 11:38 PM
