aux button on radio

I'm still getting use to all this ls1 car stuffs. i got a aux button on my radio, but theres no type of plug or anything for an i pod hook up. is there something in the back of the radio? its a 02 camaro.

redsoxsstink 01-15-2012 11:24 AM

i have a "usa spec" ipod connectivity thing and that plugs into the back and accessed by the aux button other than that idk what its used for

factory cd changer if equipped, was the only thing that button was originally for

MyFirstZ 01-15-2012 02:17 PM

You can wire in your own aux jack. just did it on mine

Grab the USA spec one redsox recommended it to me and it's like a 15 minute install and works perfectly.

I bought a GM aux input from PIE from my 04 Impala. Plugged the harness into the radio and have IPOD through the aux button.

one cord goes to the back of the radio the other i snaked down to the whole i cut in the box. it is just held in by the pressure of the radio and air duct, it makes it easier to adjust wires if one comes loose(which is hasnt yet)

you can see the wire comes out of that little ash tray thingy next to the cig lighter. the cord is abt 3ft long, the passengers in the backseat can use it if need be. the box, converter thing is just wedged in between the air duct and the radio behind the plastic cover, ill get more pics tomorrow.

fmybody 01-30-2012 05:10 PM

so that box converter thing isnt bolted or screwed down?

thanks for the pics.. both of you, Im considering this for my camaro as well... shouldnt make a difference if its monsoon or not right? Excuse me for being retarded for not knowing lol

redsoxsstink 01-31-2012 07:52 PM

no it shouldnt make a difference. that little box is not taped or screwed, its just chilling there. it is forced in between the air duct and radio and the pressure just holds it there. you could really put it anywhere and secure it with velcro or double sided tape. i just put it there for ease of access if something came loose

Reviving this thread cause I have a similar question but can't seem to find what I would need on USA spec. Looking to set up a hook-up to my iphone to play music through my factory radio. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what I would need to get and how to do it. Much appreciated.
