Dashboard Swaps

I have a couple questions on replacing dash boards:

1) Is the gage cluster in 93~95 OBD1 cars different then OBDII aside from visual?

2)Is this a simple plug and play swap between the gages?

My main reason for asking is I'm looking to swap in a complete 2002 Dashboard into my 1995 Trans Am. The dash pad is cracked, and at this point I'm looking to completely re-do the interior, and I've always been a fan the late model 4th gens set up for purely cosmetic reasons.

the cluster itself from 98-02 I believe needs a rewire due to the digital odometer + LSjuan. I think a 97 cluster will bolt in as it has a digital odo + LTjuan .

the rest of the interior is a simple swap.

You would want a 97 cluster as its from the updated interior but still powered by opti. Everything else is simple. Don't forget the center console :)

I got a ls1 center console... one of my favorite mods so far. lmao

Is there a MPH difference on the 96-97 Cluster between Firebirds & Trans Am/Formulas?

I think it depends on original tire speed rating.

Most TA/Formys will have the 150, I'd guess.

i think T/As/formulas after 94 all had 150 speedos. my 94 had it and my 96 does. v6s all had 110s or whatever

If it wasn't factory equipped with z rated tires, it received the lower mph cluster.

Ah OK. Even late 4th gens?

I'm not certain but I think only v6's had the lower mph cluster.

I retract my previous statement

Nothing will swap. just sell me your ebony interior to save you from any swap troubles :nick::nick::nick:

I realized yesterday that my dash and the 02' dash I got out of the Formula are exactly the same, just different colors. So I'll be able to retain my gauge cluster. I'm just looking into over-lays and new needles. I can't stand the light grey and yellow numbers/needles combination, it looks so dated!

I'll have a post up in a few days of my the cluster rebuild when all the parts arrive.

I had heard that about the birds but being a camaro owner, didn't know for certain. You can wet sand the factory needles to clear and then paint them whatever you like. Swapping to white leds helps bring the color out more.
