Paintbooth Shots From This Weekend

Just a few shots from my camera phone from this past weekend. This is a 1970 Mach 1 that I've been working on for a year and a half. The car was a mess when I got it. Replaced about a third of the sheetmetal on the car including floors, trunk floors, tail panel, trunk lid, trunk corner. Also had enough rust holes to weld shut to run through 2 spools of wire. Roof, hood, and doors were all wavy when I got it and needes major work as well.

These are shots of the car right after baking it. Now I'll be going back and wetsanding up to 2,000 grit and buffing it out for a glass finish. The hood and rear decklid will be getting flat black stripes and lettering as well as all new flat black accent panels and grilles.

The color is Lime Green Poly. It's Ford paint code G from 1970.

Mike....the stripes and firewall are going to be flat black.

Mike 10-20-2008 11:37 AM

ahh that explains the black on the roof, thanks paul

Hahah what decklid??? Worst part is I need to reshoot the decklid this week. I left it hanging in the booth after I painted it and came back 2 days later to find it laying on the ground!

Frosty 10-20-2008 12:53 PM

DOH! How bad did it get chipped up?

Believe it or not just 1 or 2 knicks, but it bent the corner slightly so I'm going to straighten it and touch it up. Not the end of the world but also a headache I didn't want.
