Usually you can get it started with a razor in a bare spot and pull it off easily. I would let the tint shop do it personally, the glue is a bitch.

I'll contact tronix here in manahawkin or barnegat and have them tackle it...better to be safe then try to do it and ruin the back windshield.

I used to work for a car dealership that made us pull the tint off each time a car came in, I forget the spray we uesd but we used black trash bags and heat guns to pull it off, It was a long and horrible process, Save yourself time and headache and let the tint shop do it.

Man I want those wheels

Blackbirdws6 09-26-2012 08:29 PM

Not really feeling the corner mods. It's your car and you obviously like the look but I would at least consider sanding the raised letters and repainting it the way you have it. What kind of masking did you use as it looks like it bled a bit.

bigz28man 09-26-2012 08:34 PM

As soon as i can sell some of the parts sitting in my garage ie. Lt1 ss air box, maf sensor, 2x 285/35/18 tires, stock valve covers, polished valve covers, stock fuel pump, stock springs.... so i can buy a set of tires for the Z06 wheels i have they will be for sale.

Passenger side did bleed a bit due to the lense being slightly cracked, driver side came out perfect, grabbed another marker light (not cracked) repeated for passenger side and it didn't bleed either. Good idea on the sanding, I'll have to get another set and give it a shot.

Blackbirdws6 09-26-2012 08:54 PM

I did it to mine before I put some VHT on them. Def makes a difference.

bigz28man 09-26-2012 09:05 PM

What grit paper did you use?

Blackbirdws6 09-26-2012 09:20 PM

Umm maybe 400 and worked my way up to 1500/2000.

sweetbmxrider 09-27-2012 07:30 AM

I think I did my tails with 1000-2000 wet sanding.

bigz28man 09-27-2012 09:55 AM

took down a extra fender I had up in the attic last night. removed molding, lettering, soap washed, and cleaned rubbing alcohol. going to start sanding with 800, work up to a wet 2000, rewash and apply primer.

You do NOT want a 2000 grit finish to apply primer to.

400-600 grit at most. You need some texture for the primer/paint to adhere.

1500-2000+ grit is basically for final wet sanding of the clear coat before polishing.
